UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS 5.1 Maple Ridge Housing Policy Background Report Staff report dated January 24, 2023, providing a summary compilation of the significant body of work that has been undertaken on housing initiatives since endorsement of the Housing Action Plan (2014), including review and expansion of rental housing and infill housing regulations, financial measures, and initiatives that are in the 2023 Business Plan. A. Grochowich, Planner 2, presented the staff report, including work done to date on housing policies, 2021 Census updates, process reviews, and next steps. Staff answered questions from Council. 6. Takahashi, Corporate Officer c) Citizen/Customer Implications: Citizen surveys are one mechanism for understanding if and how the City is meeting the needs of its largest customer base: City residents. As a result, 4,200 households were randomly selected and sent invitation letters. Of those, 643 participated for a participation rate of 20%. d) Interdepartmental Implications: Staff consider the results as they relate to work plans and Council direction. Adjustments are made in accordance with detailed exploration into the results. e) Business Plan/Financial Implications: The cost of the survey was $23,400 and was accounted for in the 2022 budget. CONCLUSION: The results of the 2022 Citizen Survey provide data which is critical to building and executing a vision for Maple Ridge that represents the community. Staff will leverage the detailed data to adjust the delivery of existing services while also feeding into the development of future financial plans.
