Land Acknowledgment A. Biln, Chair, called the meeting to order and provided the land acknowledgment. 2.APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA R/2023-AAC-008 It was moved and seconded That the April 27, 2023 Agricultural Advisory Committee agenda be approved as circulated. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 3.ADOPTION OF THE MINUTES R/2023-AAC-009 It was moved and seconded That the minutes of the Agricultural Advisory Committee meeting dated February 16, 2023 be adopted as circulated. Westover, Director of Economic Development, provided an overview of opportunities for agricultural economic development in the City of Maple Ridge. Topics included: programs, funding, resources, and domestic and international initiatives. 5. NEW AND UNFINISHED BUSINESS 5.1. Workplan: Webpage Refresh A. Biln, Chair, provided an overview of the Agricultural Advisory Committee webpage refresh project. Discussion topics included: information on webpages at other municipalities, information from local museums on agricultural history, and platforms for local farmers and types of agriculture. R/2023-AAC-010 It was moved and seconded That the Agricultural Advisory Committee create a Webpage Refresh Task Force to update the Agricultural Advisory Committee webpage for 2023 including Alec Biln, Alli Di Giovanni, and Bhupinder Johar. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 5.2. Workplan: Educational Signage A. Biln, Chair, provided an overview of educational agricultural signage in the City of Maple Ridge. A. Rieu, Staff Liaison, provided background information on high-traffic areas with farm backdrops, current types of signage, logistics, funding, and jurisdictional signage parameters. Committee members discussed differentiation between crops, historically grown agriculture in the area, outdated signs, and examples from other municipalities. 5.3. Workplan: Speaker Series A. Biln, Chair, provided a brief overview of the Speaker Series event. Topics included: venues, dates, and panelists. Committee members shared ideas and themes for the Speaker Series. 6. LIAISON UPDATES 6.1. Staff Liaison A. Rieu provided an update on Agricultural Land Reserve applications, including review processes for agricultural files, inquiries for residential or commercial use of land, and non- farm use applications. 6.2. Council Liaison - NIL Agricultural Advisory Committee Minutes April 27, 2023 Page 3 of 3 7. TASK FORCE UPDATE 7.1. 2023 Food Garden Contest A. Rieu, Staff Liaison, shared that the Corporate Communications department will help with the marketing material for the 2023 Food Garden Contest. The theme for the 2023 Food Garden Contest is “Choose Your Theme.” Committee members discussed timelines for submission. 8. QUESTION PERIOD FOR THE PUBLIC – NIL 9.
