2.Adoption of the Agenda

3.Minutes of January 5, 2010 Regular Meeting be adopted
R10-007 It was moved and seconded
That the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 5,2010 be adopted with
the following amendments;
Item 6.1 should read that “the winter issue of the Heritage Commission
Newsletter will be out after the Heritage Awards Event in February.”

4.Delegations
4.1 Parks Master Plan – Mike Murray
Mike Murray presented the draft Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows Parks and
Recreation and Culture Master Plan to the Commission.
Mike Murray reviewed the process for buying parkland with the Commission
and talked about Urban Agriculture and the idea of a demonstration farm.
Mike Murray left the meeting at 8:33 p.m.
5.New & Unfinished Business
5.1 Creative Communities Program
This item was deferred to the March 2010 meeting.
5.2 Budget
Lisa Zosiak reviewed the 2009 budget with the Commission and asked the
Commission members to consider projects for the potential 2010 budget.
ACTION ITEM:Add 2010 Budget to the March 2010 agenda.
5.3 Ghost Story Tour
Lisa Zosiak advised the Commission that she has talked to Val Patenaude who
recommended that Ms.Zosiak contact Jordana Feist who might be able to
provide some ghost stories to the Commission.
Brenda Smith provided a review of a historic cemetery tour that took place in
Langley and she took part in.

5.4 Creative Communities Program
This item was deferred to March 2010.
6.Sub-Committee Reports
6.1 Newsletter
Helmi Braches asked Lisa Zosiak to include a write-up on the Miller residence
and Brenda Smith to write a biography for the next newsletter.
Nicole Read and Councillor Speirs left the meeting at 9:06 p.m.
6.2 Heritage Awards
Lisa Zosiak advised the Commission that the sub-committee decided not to do
the usual newspaper ads promoting the Heritage Awards and confirmed that
letters will go out to the Historical Society.Ms.Zosiak noted that she is waiting
for one more plaque to arrive on February 10th.
Lisa Zosiak asked the Commission if they would like to do a joint newspaper ad
with the Maple Ridge Historical Society that would include information about
Heritage Week and the Heritage Awards,and noted the ad would come out the
day before the awards.
The Commission talked about a three part series of newspaper articles and
Jacqueline Mulcahy reviewed some samples that she created with the
Commission.
Lisa Zosiak confirmed with the Commission that the ad would be done jointly
with the Maple Ridge Historical Society for the February 12th edition of The New
with a focus on Heritage Week (sports &recreation is the theme this year)and
the Heritage Awards.
Helmi Braches noted that it would be nice if the article included a message to
the public that heritage is not only about old houses,it is much broader than
buildings.
The Commission agreed that they would like to see a full page ad including
photos and the cost is to be shared with the Maple Ridge Historical Society.
6.3 Heritage Context Study, update
Lisa Zosiak confirmed that she will set up a meeting with the sub-committee.

6.4 CHC Networking Conference, review of event
6.5 Heritage Plaque Program – deferred
6.6 CHC Facebook Page
Lisa Zosiak advised the Commission that it would be worthwhile to add some
logistical information to the Facebook page about the Heritage Awards.
