AGENDA ADOPTION R18-007 It was moved and seconded That the Agenda of June 27, 2018 be adopted. 2. MINUTE ADOPTION R18-008 It was moved and seconded That the Minutes of May 2, 2018 be adopted. 3. Update on unfinished business CARRIED CARRIED The Tech Task Force is attempting to set up a new branch which will center on Innovation. They are also working on some ideas with regard to creating a Tech Hub in the downtown core. The idea is to have a physical space with a kiosk or container which will showcase different types of products, businesses, or topics which are Technology related. This idea is in the very preliminary stages and it was suggested that, once the ideas is more conceptualized, it be brought to the EDC. ) EDC Minutes June 27, 2018 Page 2 of2 R18-009 It was moved and seconded That the concept of the new Tech Hub be brought to the EDC. CARRIED 4. Terratap Proposal Terratap Technologies is interested in having Maple Ridge, along with 5 or 6 other municipalities, become involved with a new technology which will standardize a platform that can be used for App Development. Having this platform will allow for the development of Apps that can be used to service several different communities on the same subject, for example, trails. People could look up trails in several different communities using the same App. The EDC members suggested that the Tech Task Force would be the best group to assess this as their knowledge would be more appropriate. R18-010 It was moved and seconded That the proposal from Terratap Technologies be taken to the Tech Task Force for consideration. CARRIED 5. Setting direction for EDC An environmental scan was started to assess the factors that may affect the City over the next few years. A list of possible actions was begun and will be completed at the next meeting in order to provide a clear focus on future goals. 6.
