4. DELEGATIONS
4.1 Lougheed Transit Corridor Area Plan
Amelia Bowden, Planner 2, presented an overview of the Lougheed Transit Corridor Area Plan
and explained the decision-making process. Topics included the metrics for evaluating the
ratio of green space to development, architectural guidelines to include sequestration of
carbon and the integration of area plans with larger development strategies.

5.1. Welcome/Member Introductions
Committee members introduced themselves and described their backgrounds.
5.2. Committee Orientation
The Staff Liaison provided a background of the Environmental Advisory Committee and the
Committee Clerk presented an overview of Committee proceedings.
5.3. Chair and Vice Chair Selection
The Committee selected Bill Hardy as Chair and Jessie Lees as Vice Chair for 2022.

The Committee approved the meeting schedule for 2022.

5.5. 2022 Work Plan
The Committee established the Green Infrastructure Network Mapping and Management
Strategy Task Force and the Environmental Communications and Outreach Task Force to
accomplish action items in the 2022 Work Plan.

That the Committee establish the Green Infrastructure Network Mapping and Management
Strategy Task Force to develop a scoping report on the strategy and present the results at a
regular meeting in 2022.

That the Committee appoint Janice Jarvis, Jessie Lees and Mark Adams to the Green
Infrastructure Network Mapping and Management Strategy Task Force for 2022.

That the Committee establish the Environmental Communications and Outreach Task Force
to provide opportunities for education and public engagement through a presentation series
with various experts speaking about environmental-related topics, updates to municipal
environmental website materials, community walking tours, use of innovative technologies
and social media to share awareness and celebrate successes with update reports during
regular meetings.

Dan Mikolay, WildsafeBC Coordinator provided an overview of ongoing efforts to reduce
human/bear conflicts and minimizing the number of bears that are destroyed.

4.1. Ecological and Green Infrastructure Network Background Info & Next Steps Task Force
Rodney Stott, Environmental Planner 2 presented an overview of the Committee’s high-
priority items, which includes a scoping report and update to Council about the green
infrastructure ecological network management strategy. The Staff Liaison discussed the role
of the Green Infrastructure Subcommittee, the Green Infrastructure Network Mapping and

The Staff Liaison summarized the results of recent initiatives to obtain feedback from
Committee members about the Lougheed Transit Corridor Area Plan.

4.1. Parks Master Plan Review – Russ Brummer
R. Brummer, Manager of Business Operations, Recreation & Community Engagement,
presented an overview of the Parks Master Plan and explained available tools and
resources. Topics included an online crowd-sourcing map, local and provincial stakeholders,
and holistic approaches to healthy connections with nature and the environment.

5.1. EAC High Priority Short Term Action Items: Resolution on Next Steps
Note: R. Stott, Staff Liaison, discussed Items 5.1, 5.1.1, 5.1.2, 5.1.3, 5.1.4, 5.2 as a part of the
presentation.
5.1.1. Ecological GI and Wildlife Connections Network Plan
5.1.2. Environmental Communications and Outreach
5.1.3. Natural Assets and GI Bio-Engineering Inventory
5.1.4. Education and Training for GI Urban Design
R. Stott, Staff Liaison, presented on the Green Infrastructure Implementation Strategy. Topics
included an overview of the previous green infrastructure management strategy and process,
proposed municipal green infrastructure implementation strategy, and the Environmental
Advisory Committee short term high priority actions. The Environmental Advisory Committee
discussed learning from the strengths, tools, and gaps of green infrastructure from other
municipalities, institutions, and global organizations.

5.2. Municipal/Corporate Green Infrastructure Update and Next Steps
5.3. Lougheed Transit Corridor Area Plan
R. Stott, Staff Liaison, presented a brief overview of the Lougheed Transit Corridor Area Plan.
The Environmental Advisory Committee discussed shared green infrastructure spaces. Topics
included green infrastructure in dense population areas, changes in development permit
guidelines to incorporate green infrastructure recommendations, and consideration of green
infrastructure plans from other jurisdictions.
5.4. Port Haney Area Plan – Survey & Walkabout Tour EAC Feedback
R. Stott, Staff Liaison, provided information about the Survey. The Environmental Advisory
Committee discussed participating in a future Walkabout.
