degrees.
The Committee agreed that they would like to see tactile surfacing at 203rd Street
and Telep Avenue.

from the West Coast Express Train Station; including a walkway and curb cut.
The Committee discussed the parking lot located at the West Coast Express Dunn

Greg Turnbull provided a review of the Accessibility Awards ceremony.
Lois Rougeau noted that it would be a good idea to provide signage to past winners
to but in their store windows.
Gillian Small would like to see the nomination brochure updated.
7. Roundtable
Councillor Bell
Councillor Bell noted that the awards were enjoyable and really well done and it can become
a really big deal the more involvement and planning you put into it can be quite an event.
Look forward to the accessibility awards discussions in the fall.
Gillian Small
Gillian noted that they have received the largest cuts ever to services and longest waitlist for
services. Gillian noted that in adult services there is a freeze on any new money coming in
and cuts aren't always a negative thing; makes you look at doing things a new way but it's
tough to see families not receiving the help they need.
Manfred Wuensche
Manfred noted that the biggest cuts are in adult's services for developmental disabilities and
the problem with that is every year we get more and more clients and we're not getting more
dollars and if your clients require support services and you're new to our area; you're
probably looking at least 1 year waiting list unless you have a really massive issue;
emergency situation. We haven't had any loses of dollars on the kids side but it's a growing
area and we're adding about 50 families every year with no increased dollars and they are on
the waitlist.
Thelma Boudreau
Thelma provided a review from the Strawberry Tea.
Maria Kovacs
Maria noted that she was very impressed with Translink and their proposal.
Amelia Bowden
Amelia noted that Translink and Coast Mountain Bus representatives have agreed to put
tactile surfacing the east end of the bus loop that connects the bus loop and they will also
put signage in on the island along with the 3 bus shelters at the Haney bus loop.

Lois Rougeau
Lois noted that the Ministry of Housing & Social Development is struggling with staffing
issues as a result of the reductions. Lois also noted that the province has said there is no
more money to spend on income assistance. In the near future you'll see that a lot of our
work is done regionally.
Shelley Jorde
Shelley noted that the Recovery Through Recreation and Emotional Wellness Recovery
programs Coordinator (Shayna Funk-Larmer) is back to working 20 hours per week. Shelley
also noted that the grant from Community Living was approved which allows children with
disabilities to participate in our camps.
Amelia Bowden
Amelia provided a review of the Participation Program, TZU Funding and the John Stark
programs along with their criteria.
