That the Agenda dated October 17 , 2013 be adopted . Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Committee on Accessibility Issues Thursday, September 19, 2013 - Draft Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Committee on Accessibility Issues Page 2 of 4 CARRIED 3.Minutes of the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Committee on Accessibility Issues Regular Meeting . R13-024 It was moved and seconded. That the Minutes of the September 19 , 2013 Regular Meeting be adopted. CARRIED 4. Delegations and Presentations - Nil 5.Unfinished & New Business 5.1 Adoption of the 2014 Business Plan Petra Frederick reviewed the draft 2014 Business Plan and deliverables for the Municipal Advisory Committee on Accessibility Issues. Ms. Frederick will explore the options of including accessibility questions in the 2014 random telephone survey and Citizen Satisfaction Survey. Petra Frederick further explained the line item “Examine and explore the definition of Accessibility (physical and/or financial)” within the business plan, which has been adjusted to be a review of the mandate of this committee to better determine a new Terms of Reference. Please note Councillor Al Hogarth joined the meeting at 5:07 pm. Councillor Al Hogarth brought the committee’s attention to the Bicycle Advisory Committee splitting as a result of the new Pitt Meadows Active Transportation Committee. This means that members from Pitt Meadows will no longer be part of the Bicycle Advisory Committee. Councillor Hogarth was concerned this may affect Pitt Meadows’ future involvement with the Municipal Advisory Committee on Accessibility Issues as well. Please note Councillor Bruce Bell joined the meeting at 5:14 pm. Councillor Bruce Bell agreed to forward any concerns regarding Pitt Meadows back to Pitt Meadows staff. Committee members suggested the survey should happen first, followed by the terms of reference and then the marketing/promotional opportunities. A spelling error was pointed out – “curt letdowns” should be “curb letdowns”. Councillor Al Hogarth suggested looking at employment funding for some of the items on the business plan. That the draft business plan for the Municipal Advisory Committee on Accessibility Issues be adopted as amended. CARRIED 5.2 Final approval of MACAI members business cards and rack card (promotional material) Petra Frederick wanted to make the Committee aware she is moving ahead with the printing of the MACAI business cards.Committee members should expect to receive approximately 25 cards which can be handed out to the public to promote awareness of the Municipal Advisory Committee on Accessibility Issues. Petra Frederick asked the Committee’s interest in pursuing the rack card when a business plan item is re-defining their Terms of Reference.Committee members agreed to have Ms.Frederick explore the option of doing a flyer similar to a SPARK handout seen by Committee members. 5.3 New member recruitment Petra Frederick informed the Committee that MACAI has numerous vacancies at this time.Committee members agreed an ad should be created for members-at- large vacancies,and then a letter should go out to all service providers within the communities of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows asking them to post within their respected offices so their clients can be informed of the vacancies.November 1st is Ms.Frederick’s target to have the ad and letters out,with interviews beginning the first week of January. 5.4 Brainstorm 2014 delegation invitations Petra Frederick asked Committee’s appetite to have monthly delegations present at future meetings. Committee members agreed this was a beneficial idea. Ms. Petra will look into scheduling the upcoming delegations from a list of suggestions forwarded by the Committee. 6.Committee Reports 6.1 Curb Cuts & Bus Stop Pads Theresa Whyte reported she has not heard back from Michael Eng from Engineering to determine what curb cuts or bus stop pads were the focuses this year in Maple Ridge. Petra Frederick will investigate further. Ms. Whyte also reported that the recent report from Kevin Priebe has had forwarded and received by the City of Pitt Meadows. Petra Frederick reported that engineering is currently constructing a bike lane along Lougheed Highway which Kevin Priebe has provided feedback for, and as a result of Mr. Priebe, the Ministry of Transportation will be fixing 3 of 4 curb let down in this construction area. Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Committee on Accessibility Issues Thursday, September 19, 2013 - Draft Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Committee on Accessibility Issues Page 4 of 4 Kevin Priebe reported that he recently sent a letter to the City of Pitt Meadows Engineering Department thanking them for their recent repairs to identified problem curbs in the City of Pitt Meadows. 6.2 Annual Accessibility Awards - Nil 6.3 Displays & Presentations - Nil 7.Roundtable Mike Murray requested he be removed from the attendees “absent/regrets”list when he is not in attendance as his is only the alternate to Kathy Marshal.Mr.Murray went on to further report an upcoming Pub night November 2 Councillor Al Hogarth reported he recently attended a very inspirational evening at the ACT with presenter Mark Waifer. Thelma Bourdreau reported that the new Pitt Meadows Seniors Centre is doing wonderful and having many special events. Petra Frederick reported she had a call from a community member who was concerned that Handy Dart will be discontinuing all evening services within this community.Petra will be following up with Handy Dart. 8.Correspondence 9.Next Meeting : Thursday, November 21 , 2013 Agenda Deadline:Thursday, November 5, 2013 10.Adjournment : 6:38 pm. __________________________________ Chairperson /jg
