CALL TO ORDER – 4:31 pm 2. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA R/2021-014 It was moved and seconded CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 3. ADOPTION OF MINUTES R/2021-015 It was moved and seconded That the minutes of the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Municipal Advisory Committee on Accessibility and Inclusiveness dated September 23, 2021 be adopted. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 4. DELEGATIONS 4.1 Strategic Transportation Plan - Overview Mark Halpin, Manager of Transportation provided an overview of the Strategic Transportation Plan, including gaps in established areas, access to frequent, high-speed transit, impact of electric vehicles and trends in mobility. Note: Carolina Echeverri joined the meeting at 4:48 pm. Note: Mark Halpin left the meeting at 4:59 pm. That the November 25, 2021 Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Municipal Advisory Committee on Accessibility and Inclusiveness agenda be approved as circulated. Inclusive and Accessible Events and Volunteerism The Committee discussed the draft version of the Inclusive and Accessible Events and Volunteerism guide, including the addition of languages, culturally diverse food options, accessible scooter charging stations, options for service counter providers and the identification of affordability issues. R/2021-016 It was moved and seconded That the Committee support the Inclusive and Accessible Events and Volunteerism draft guide as presented and direct the Staff Liaison to include suggested revisions in preparation to revisit the guide at a later date. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 5.2. 2022 Business Plan (Final) The Staff Liaison provided a brief update on the finalized version of the 2022 Business Plan. 6. LIAISON UPDATES 6.1 City of Pitt Meadows The City of Pitt Meadows Staff Liaison provided an update on the following: • Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan and the establishment of a Parks, Recreation and Culture Advisory Committee • The replacement of the Harris Road Playground • Community Service Awards 6.2 City of Maple Ridge The Council Liaison provided an update on the: • Building Permit Function Review • Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan • Impacts of flooding The Staff Liaison provided an update on the: • Opening of recreation and fitness centres • Inclusiveness and Accessibility Strategy 6.2.1 Maple Ridge Accessibility and Inclusiveness Strategy The Staff Liaison spoke about the Inclusive and Accessible Events and Volunteerism guide and the development of the Inclusiveness and Accessibility Strategy. SUBCOMMITTEE AND TASK FORCE UPDATES 7.1 Age-Friendly Subcommittee The Staff Liaison provided an update on the Age-friendly Subcommittee, including the progress of community support initiatives, the impact of elder abuse and senior outreach efforts. 7.2 2021 Work Plan Update The Staff Liaison outlined the Committee’s 2021 Work Plan and preparations for the 2022 Work Plan. 7.3 2021 MACAI Awards The Staff Liaison informed the Committee that the 2021 MACAI award selection process is underway and preparations are being made for the formal recognition of award recipients. 8. QUESTION PERIOD FOR THE PUBLIC – NIL 9. ROUNDTABLE Committee members discussed relevant issues, events and activities. 10. ADJOURNMENT – 5:49 pm __________________________ Laurie Geschke, Chair
