held via Zoom teleconference on June 29, 2022 at 4:00 pm.

5.NEW AND UNFINISHED BUSINESS
5.1 Accessibility & Inclusiveness Framework – Tony Cotroneo
T. Cotroneo, Manager of Community Engagement (alternate staff liaison) for the Municipal
Advisory Committee on Accessibility and Inclusiveness (MACAI) provided information to the
committee on the grant received from Plan H and BC Healthy Communities to create the
Accessibility and Inclusiveness Framework. Community engagement on the project is underway
and a resident survey is currently open seeking feedback on the Framework. The survey is open
until July 17.
Note: T. Cotroneo left the meeting at 4:20 p.m.
5.2 Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan Update and Committee Engagement – Danielle Pope
Brian Johnston and Fiona Bell, RC Strategies consultants, provided an update on the Parks,
Recreation, and Culture Master Plan engagement methods that were conducted and gave an
overview of the Resident Survey findings. Councillor Svendsen requests that RC Strategies
return at a later PRCC meeting to provide an update, and report to Council on the final stages of
the Master Plan development.
Note: B. Johnston and F. Bell left the meeting at 5:13 p.m.
5.3 BC Summer Games – Christa Balatti
C.Balatti, Manager of Health and Wellness, provided an update on the Maple Ridge 2024 BC
Summer Games and the key milestones in preparation for the event. C. Balatti requested to
include the BC Summer Games as a standing agenda item at future PRCC meetings.
Note: C. Balatti left the meeting at 5:33 p.m.
6.LIAISON UPDATES
6.1 Staff Liaison
The Staff Liaisons provided an update on the following items:
•The Grand Opening at the Albion Community Centre on June 22, 2022 was a success,
with approximately 500 guests that joined in the celebrations. Programs will start in
July.
•Silver Valley Gathering Place is nearing the end of construction and anticipates
completion in two weeks. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned shortly after the
completion.
•The park design at 241A and 112 Avenue is complete. The contract will be awarded on
July 5, 2022, and construction of the park will commence shortly thereafter.
•As part of the BC Games legacy funding, public engagement to receive feedback on a
location to build a new Beach Volleyball court is anticipated to commence in the
summer.
•July 1, 2022 will be the 1st in-person Canada Day celebration since the pandemic. Event
activities start at 12:00 p.m. through 6:00 p.m. at the Memorial Peace Park.
•RC Strategies is conducting a staff visioning session on July 13, 2022. PRCC feedback
is appreciated.

•The Leisure Centre is currently closed until further notice. Updates are provided on
social media and the City’s website.
6.2 Council Liaison
The Council Liaison provided an update on the following items:
•The Lougheed Transit Corridor Area Plan is in progress and will go to Council Workshop
soon for further discussion on the plan approval process.

Committee members shared information on relevant events and activities.
9.ADJOURNMENT – 5:50 p.m.
The next regular meeting of the Parks, Recreation and Culture Advisory Committee will be held
on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 4:00 pm.
