Minutes of the Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows Parks & Leisure Services Commission Regular Meeting R09-039 It was moved and seconded That the Minutes of the Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows Parks & Leisure Services Commission Regular Meeting of September 10, 2009 be adopted as presented. CARRIED Please note that Items 4 through 7 were dealt with prior to Item 3. 3. Decision Items 3.1 2010-2014 Business Plan R09-040 Mike Murray reviewed the 2010 Business Plan Community Development, Parks & Recreation Services Overview and the Administration Section with the Commission. Kelly Swift reviewed the Recreation Section with the Commission. Sue Wheeler reviewed the Community Services Section with the Commission. David Boag reviewed the Facilities and Open Space Department Section with the Commission. Mayor Don Maclean expressed a concern over the 7% increase in costs for the City of Pitt Meadows. Mike Murray advised the Commission that this was due to increases related to the Arena, South Bonson Community Centre and new parks. He went on to suggest that if the Councils direct there is a need for reductions then staff would sit down with the Commission and review the alternatives. It was moved and seconded That the 2010-2014 Parks and Leisure Services Business Plan be endorsed noting that finalization of the plan is subject to adoption by Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows Municipal Councils. Discussion Items Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows Parks & Leisure Services Commission Regular Minutes Page 2 of4 ) Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows Parks & Leisure Services Commission Regular Meeting Minutes -Thursday, October 8, 2009 4.1 Commission Evaluation -verbal report Mike Murray advised the commission that there is an evaluation form that is included in the agenda package and requested the Commission members to fill out the form and return it to Mike Murray before the next Parks & Leisure Services Commission meeting in order to compile and share the results. 4.2 October 22 Joint Meeting with Langley -verbal report Mike Murray confirmed which Commission members would be attending the special joint meeting with the Township of Langley on October 22nd. Mr. Murray noted that he will contact those Commission members that are not present tonight to confirm their attendance. Mike Murray then reviewed the agenda for the October 22nd meeting with the Commission and the Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. outside the Pitt Meadows Family Centre. The Commission discussed the idea of inviting other trustees and commission members. 5. Commission Liaison Report 7. Staff Liaison Reports CARRIED David Boag advised the Commission that there have been two open houses; one in Pitt Meadows and one Maple Ridge where more feedback and information was gathered on the five sites that are being proposed for dog parks. Mr. Boag also noted that a report is being prepared for the Commission. 8. Adjourned R09-042 It was moved and seconded That the regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Commission be adjourned. CARRIED 10. Motion to move into Closed Meeting R09-043 It was moved and seconded That the Parks and Leisure Services Commission move into a Closed Meeting pursuant to 242(e) the acquisition. disposition or expropriation of land or improvements if the Council considers that disclosure might reasonable be expected to harm the interests of the municipality.
