COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT Councillor Karleen Carreras Wayne Bissky, Chair Gina Rubin Leblanc, Vice Chair Courtney Miller STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT Danielle Pope Darlene Slevin Arsh Dhillon ABSENT Dana Bates 1. CALL TO ORDER -4:02 pm 2. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA R/2023-PASC-001 It was moved and seconded Council Liaison Architect Artist Arts Council Representative Staff Liaison, Director of Recreation and Community Engagement Staff Liaison, Recreation Coordinator -Volunteer & Special Events Committee Clerk Member at Large That the March 2, 2023 Public Art Steering Committee agenda be approved as circulated. 3. ADOPTION OF THE MINUTES 3.1. February 3, 2022 R/2023-PASC-002 It was moved and seconded CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY That the minutes of the Public Art Steering Committee meeting dated February 3, 2022 be adopted as circulated. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 3.2 . September 1, 2022 R/2023-PASC-003 It was moved and seconded That the minutes of the Public Art Steering Committee meeting dated September 1, 2022 be adopted as circulated. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 4. DELEGATIONS-NIL 5. NEW AND UNFINISHED BUSINESS 5.1. Welcome/Member Introductions Public Art Steering Committee Minutes March 2, 2023 Page 2 of 4 New and returning members introduced themselves to the group. 5.2. Advisory Committee Overview A. Dhillon, Committee Clerk, provided a general overview of Committee proceedings and functions. D. Pope, Staff Liaison, described the mandate and ongoing work of the Public Art Steering Committee. 5.3. Chair and Vice Chair Selections The Public Art Steering Committee appointed Wayne Bissky as Chair and Gina Rubin Leblanc as Chair Vice for 2023. R/2023-PASC-004 It was moved and seconded That Wayne Bissky be appointed as Chair of the Public Art Steering Committee for 2023. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY R/2023-PASC-005 It was moved and seconded That Gina Rubin Leblanc be appointed as Vice Chair of the Public Art Steering Committee for 2023. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 5.4.2023 Meeting Schedule The Public Art Steering Committee approved the 2023 meeting schedule. R/2023-PASC-006 It was moved and seconded That the 2023 Pubiic Art Steering Committee meeting schedule be adopted as circulated. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 5.5. 2023 Draft Work Plan The Public Art Steering Committee approved the 2023 Public Art Steering Committee Work Plan and forwarded the recommendations to Council for approval. R/2023-PASC-007 It was moved and seconded That the 2023 Public Art Steering Committee Work Plan be approved and forwarded to Council for approval. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 5.6. Task Forces Public Art Steering Committee Minutes March 2, 2023 Page 3 of 4 D. Slevin and D. Pope, Staff Liaisons, provided an overview of the Task Forces on the Public Art Steering Committee. R/2023-PASC-008 It was moved and seconded That Courtney Miller and Gina Rubin Leblanc be appointed to the Artist in Residence Task Force for 2023. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 5.7. Hummingbird Illumination by Rain Pierre D. Slevin, Staff Liaison, provided an overview of the Hummingbird Illumination art installation by Rain Pierre. Committee members discussed the location of the art installation and the ability to move the art installation to other locations. 5.8. Community Mural Update -Baillie House D. Slevin, Staff Liaison, provided an overview of the Community Mural outside the Baillie House. Committee members discussed· the progress, artists, sponsorship and funding requests. 6. LIAISON UPDATES 6.1. Staff Liaison Danielle Pope and Darlene Slevin provided an update on the following: • PRC Master Plan will be presented to Council for approval on February 28, 2023 • The Cultural Collective decided on high priority items in the Culture Plan 6.2. Council Liaison Councillor Carreras provided an update on the following: • Council Strategic Planning and mandate • Kristi Lauridsen and students from School District 42, along with Lisa Shepherd, a local resident and Metis Artist, presented Council with a piece of art they created to welcome Ukrainian refugees arriving in Maple Ridge last year 7. QUESTION PERIOD FOR THE PUBLIC -NIL 8. ROUNDTABLE Committee members provided updates and reports on relevant events and activities related to public art in the community. 9.
