The Minutes of the Regular Transportation Advisory Committee Meeting held via Zoom teleconference and hosted in the Blaney Room at Maple Ridge City Hall on October 11, 2023 at 7:00pm.

5. NEW AND UNFINISHED BUSINESS
5.1. Strategic Transportation Plan Update
M. Halpin, Staff Liaison, provided a presentation on the recently adopted Strategic
Transportation Plan. Topics included: Project approach, shaping influences, future directions, strategies & actions, and the Strategic Transportation Plan – next 10 years. Committee
members asked questions and engaged in discussion.
5.2. School Safety Initiative Program
M. Halpin, Staff Liaison, and Sienna Yu, Engineering Technologist, presented on the School
Safety Initiative. Topics included: intent, project details, and short-term solutions, which
included traffic signals, pedestrian crosswalks, school zones, and speed management.
Committee members asked questions and engaged in discussion.
6. LIAISON UPDATES
6.1. Staff Liaison
M. Halpin provided an update on the following:
• Hammond Road Multi-Use Path works currently in construction.
• Abernethy Way Corridor Phased Improvements
• Crosswalk improvements on 124 Avenue between Davison and Grey Street
• 240th at Kanaka – 3 cross walks upcoming designs
• Bus Rapid Transit conversations with Translink and the Mayors’ Council
• Fern Crescent Multi-Use Path at substantial completion
• Business Planning
6.2. Council Liaison
Councillor Tan provided an update on the following:
• Strategic Transportation Plan
• Business Planning
• Bus Rapid Transit conversations with Translink and the Mayors’ Council
• Brand Strategy roll out and increasing presence in region
• Council approved Objective Key Results – yearly milestone and quarterly
reconciliation (liveable community)
• Public engagement on Rec Facility Study
