PUBLIC WORKS AND DEVELOPMENT SERVICES Note: The following items have been numbered to correspond with the Council Agenda: 1101 DVP/082/08, 20544 Powell Avenue Staff report dated November 6, 2008 recommending that the Corporate Officer be authorized to sign and seal DVP/082/08 to vary the maximum allowable height for a single family dwelling in the R-1 (Residential District) zone. Committee of the Whole Minutes November 17, 2008 Page 2 of 3 The General Manager of Community Development, Parks and Recreation Services indicated that the area shown as park on the property map referred to conservation area for McKinney Creek. RECOMMENDATION That the staff report be forwarded to the Council Meeting of November 25, 2008. 1102 Bylaw for Highway Closure & Dedication Removal for Portion of Undeveloped Road Dedicated on Plan BCP33856 (west of the 13800 Block of 232 Street) Staff report dated November 7, 2008 recommending that Maple Ridge Highway Closure and Dedication Removal Bylaw No. 6629-2008 to allow the closure of the highway and removal of the road dedication be given first, second and third readings. RECOMMENDATION That the staff report be forwarded to the Council Meeting of November 25, 2008. 1103 Statements of Significance for Maple Ridge Heritage Register Staff report dated November 6, 2008 recommending the 12 Statements of Significance for inclusion in the Maple Ridge Community Heritage Register be endorsed. The Planner advised that the Statements of Significance for the Maple Ridge Heritage Register did not offer protection of heritage resources such as trees. She advised that should older trees become a hazard, an arborist would be asked for a recommendation. The General Manager of Community Development, Parks and Recreation Services confirmed that should an arborist indicate a tree has become a hazard, the tree will be removed. There was a discussion regarding remnants of land in the vicinity of the CEED Centre. RECOMMENDATION That the staff report be forwarded to the Council Meeting of November 25, 2008. Committee of the Whole Minutes November 17, 2008 Page 3 of 3 ACTION REQUIRED Staff is to provide the Community Heritage Commission with comments of Council referring to the potential purchase of remnants of land in the vicinity of the CEED Centre to establish an area to place heritage buildings obtained by the District. Staff is to investigate the possible purchase of land remnants owned by the Department of Highways which border the Haney Bypass. 3. FINANCIAL AND CORPORATE SERVICES (including Fire and Police) 1131 Disbursements for the month ended October 31, 2008 Staff report dated November 12, 2008 recommending that disbursements for October 2008 be approved.
