COUNCIL MEETING
June 10, 2008
The Minutes of the Municipal Council Meeting held on June 10, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in
the Council Chamber of the Municipal Hall, 11995 Haney Place, Maple Ridge, British
Columbia for the purpose of transacting regular Municipal business.

701 2008 BC Law Enforcement Torch Run -Final Leg for Special Olympics
-Corporal Michael McCauley
Corporal McCauley provided an overview on the BC Law Enforcement Torch
Run for Special Olympics and shared anecdotes of contributions to the
fundraising effort. T.he Torch Run will be coming through Maple Ridge on
June 26 in the early afternoon and residents are encouraged to participate
and/or donate.

Staff report dated June 4, 2008 recommending that Contract E02-010-098
for Road Improvements on Cottonwood Drive from Dewdney Trunk Road to
117B Avenue be awarded to Double M Excavating Ltd.

Staff report dated June 2, 2008 recommending that subject to the
adoption of Bylaw No. 6572-2008, Contract 01084 be awarded to Mierau
Contractors Ltd. and that the Corporate Officer be authorized to execute the
contract.

MAYOR'S REPORT
Mayor Robson attended the Whonnock Community Association celebration
of the 20th year anniversary of the opening of the Whonnock Lake Centre.
He commented on the continued increase in the lake level and thanked all
those involved in the weir construction project for their efforts.
COUNCILLORS' REPORTS
Councillor Speirs
Councillor Speirs attended the Federation of Canadian Municipalities
convention held in Quebec City.
Councillor Stewart
Councillor Stewart attended the Federation of Canadian Municipalities
convention held in Quebec City. He advised that a Senior Idol competition
is being held on June 18 and encouraged any interested seniors to take
part.
Councillor Hogarth
Councillor Hogarth attended the Federation of Canadian Municipalities
convention, a Girl Guides of Canada award presentation of the Canada
Cord and the Rick Hansen Wheels in Motion event. He also attended the
graduation ceremonies at Westview Secondary and Samuel Robertson
Technical Secondary.
Councillor Dueck
Councillor Dueck attended graduation ceremonies at Garibaldi Secondary,
Westview Secondary and Samuel Robertson Technical Secondary. She
acknowledged the community organizations which support graduates
through scholarships and donations.

Councillor Daykin
Councillor Daykin attended the Whonnock Community Association
celebration of the 20th year anniversary of the opening of the Whonnock
Lake Centre. He reminded residents of upcoming events which included
the Operating Engineers Annual Open House and Equipment Rodeo on
June 21 and the CP 2816 Express Stream Train event on June 27. He
commented on the growing popularity of the new Youth Action Park.
