The Minutes of the Municipal Council Meeting held on October 26, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.
in the Council Chamber of the Municipal Hall, 11995 Haney Place, Maple Ridge,

James MacDonald, President of the Maple Ridge Branch of the Royal
Canadian Legion spoke to the Legion's Annual Poppy Campaign and
presented the first symbolic poppy of the season to the Mayor. Poppies
were distributed to all Council members.

702 Annual Community Safety Star Award Presentation
-T. Juurakko, Assistant Fire Chief
The Assistant Fire Chief presented Community Safety Star Awards to James
Cooper and Greg Meek for carrying out an action which prevented the loss
of life and property, Dani Maki and Manjinder Sandhu of Panago Pizza for
their efforts to promote fire and life safety and to Rick Delorme of School
District No. 42 for partnering with the Fire Department to help promote fire
and life safety within the District.
A Community Safety Star Award was accepted by Principal Ron Lanzarotta
and PAC Chair Rachel Thompson on behalf of Albion School for the work
done to make the school a safer place.

1400 MAYOR 'S REPORT
CARRIED
Mayor Daykin advised that October is Small Business Month and that the
week of October 1 to 7 is Bike to Work Week. He encouraged all to find a
way to either bike, walk or take alternate transportation to work. The Mayor
visited Blue Mountain Elementary to answer questions about the
community from Grade 5 and 6 students. He attended the Golden Harvest
event and expressed congratulations on its success.
1500 COUNCILLORS' REPORTS
Councillor King
Councillor King attended Customer Appreciation Day at the Maple Ridge
Library and the open house following the Charette for the Albion area
Councillor Morden
Councillor Morden attended the opening of the all weather field in Pitt
Meadows, the Ridge Meadows Hospital Gala, a meeting with School District
No. 42, a Salvation Army Board Meeting, an Economic Advisory
Commission meeting and a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce. He sat
in on a portion of the Charette process and attended the Riverside Centre
for Continuing Education, Customer Appreciation Day at the Maple Ridge
Library and participated in a tour of Fire Hall No. 1.
Councillor Speirs
Councillor Speirs attended the "Welcome Back Chums" event, the "Save
the Salmon" flotilla and a meeting of the Community Advisory Board for the
UBC Research Forest. He also attended the 2010 Shaw College
Graduation, the opening of the all weather field in Pitt Meadows and a

Lower Mainland Local Government Association meeting. He attended the
Golden Harvest Event and the opening of the Gaming Centre.
Councillor Dueck
Councillor Dueck attended the opening of the Community Gaming Centre
and the opening of the Community Policing Office at the Greg Moore
Centre. She acknowledged the work done by the Assistant Fire Chief in
organizing the Community Safety Star Awards and welcomed Mr. Fred
Armstrong as the District's new Manager of Communications.
Councillor Ashlie
Councillor Ashlie attended the Golden Harvest event. She participated in
• an event for the homeless at the Caring Place.

Councillor King notified Council that she would be presenting at motion at
the next Council meeting requesting that staff be directed to amend the
