ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA The agenda was adopted with the following additions 4.3 Whonnock Lake Update 2. MINUTES R/08-085 Minutes It was moved and seconded February 25, 2008 That the minutes of the Council Workshop Meeting of February 25, 2008 be adopted as circulated. CARRIED Council Workshop Minutes March 3, 2008 Page 2 of 3 3. PRESENTATIONS AT THE REQUEST OF COUNCIL -Nil 4. UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS 4.1 Environmentally Sensitive Areas The Environmental Planner provided a PowerPoint presentation of the Environmental Sensitive Area Review for the District of Maple Ridge. R/08-086 Environmental Sensitive Area Review It was moved and seconded That the Environmental Sensitive Area Review be received for information. CARRIED ACTION REQUIRED Staff is to place the Environmental Sensitive Area Review presentation on the District website. Note: Item 4.3 dealt with prior to Item 4.2 4.2 Metro Vancouver Growth Strategy Councillor Dueck reviewed the report titled "Results of the Preliminary Public Consultation on the Proposed Issues, Goals and Strategies for Metro Vancouver's Regional Growth Strategy" attached to the agenda. She reported that the report will be submitted to the Metro Vancouver Land Use and Transportation Committee on March 7, 2008. Metro Vancouver will develop a draft Regional Growth Strategy for presentation to the public and municipal councils for further feedback. It was the consensus of Council that comments will be provided to Metro Vancouver following receipt of the draft Metro Vancouver Growth Strategy. 4.3 Whonnock Lake Update The General Manager of Community Development, Parks and Recreation Services advised that an agreement with the Department of Fisheries and Ocean has been finalized and that finalization of a water license through the Ministry of Environment was expected soon. He also advised that construction was scheduled to begin by the end of the week or early in the following week. Council Workshop Minutes March 3, 2008 Page 3 of 3 5. CORRESPONDENCE 5.1 Renewed Fisheries Act Reintroduced Letter dated February 15, 2008 from Councillor Mary Sjostrom, Chair, Community Economic Development Committee, Union of British Columbia Municipalities, providing information pertaining to Fisheries Act Bill C-32 and requesting feedback and comments. R/08-087 Fisheries Act Bill C-32 It was moved and seconded That the letter dated February 15, 2008 from the Union of British Columbia Municipalities be referred to staff for a report on Fisheries Act Bill C-32.
