ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA The agenda was adopted with the following additions: 6.1 Municipal Records at the Fraser Valley Regional District 6.2 Provincial Government Announcement re: Property Assessments and Payment of Property Taxes Council Workshop Minutes November 3, 2008 Page 2 of 3 2. MINUTES R/08-412 Minutes October 27, 2008 It was moved and seconded That the minutes of the Council Workshop Meeting of October 27, 2008 be adopted as circulated. CARRIED 3. PRESENTATIONS AT THE REQUEST OF COUNCIL -Nil 4. UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS 4.1 Award of Contract, Heavy Rescue Apparatus Replacement Staff report dated October 28, 2008 recommending that Corporate Officer be authorized to execute the contract with (Rocky Mountain Phoenix) Rosenbauer of Lyons, South Dakota for the construction of one Heavy Rescue apparatus. The Fire Prevention Inspector provided clarification on the equipment being purchased and on the reasons for selecting an American company. R/08-413 Award of Contract It was moved and seconded That the Corporate Officer be authorized to execute the contract with (Rocky Mountain Phoenix) Rosenbauer of Lyons, South Dakota for the construction on one Heavy Rescue apparatus for a cost of $214,618.00 plus taxes. CARRIED 5. CORRESPONDENCE -Nil Council Workshop Minutes November 3, 2008 Page 3 of 3 6. BRIEFING ON OTHER ITEMS OF INTEREST/QUESTIONS FROM COUNCIL 6.1 Municipal Records at the Fraser Valley Regional District Councillor Hogarth expressed concern that District of Maple Ridge's records prior to 1970/1972 are being held by the Fraser Valley Regional District and are not readily available to District staff. ACTION REQUIRED Staff is to request that the Fraser Valley Regional District provide the municipality with copies of records which relate to the District of Maple Ridge. 6.2 Provincial Government Announcement re: Property Assessments and Payment of Property Taxes The General Manager, Corporate and Financial Services provided a handout of a press released issued by the Office of the Premier pertaining to the locking in of property assessments at 2007 assessed levels and a temporary property tax deferment program. He provided clarification of the new measures and explained how the District of Maple Ridge will be affected financially. 7. MATTERS DEEMED EXPEDIENT-Nil 8. ADJOURNMENT -11:24 p.m. G.
