The Minutes of the Municipal Council Workshop held on July 18, 2011 at 9:00 a.m.
in the Blaney Room of the Municipal Hall, 11995 Haney Place, Maple Ridge, British
Columbia for the purpose of transacting regular Municipal business.

4. UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS
4.1 Untidy Premises Bylaw Violation, 24061104 Avenue, Request for Additional
Extension
• Mr. Richard Austman
Staff report dated July 18, 2011 recommending that the request from Richard
Austman for an additional extension of time to complete the clean-up of
property at 24061104 Avenue for a period of sixty (60) days be approved.
The Director of Licences, Permits and Bylaws reviewed the report. She advised
that the property owner has chosen not to appear due to health issues.

That the request from Richard Austman for an additional
extension of time for a period of sixty (60) days to complete the
clean-up of his property at 24061 104 Avenue in accordance
with the order issued under the Untidy and Unsightly Premises
Bylaw No. 6533-2007 be approved.

4.2 Social Media Program Presentation
The Manager of Corporate Communications provided a presentation on the
current and future use of social media programs by the District. He also
provided a demonstration of the District's newly established Facebook and
Twitter sites and advised on how the sites will be used and monitored.

4.3 Property Taxation and Tax Multiples
The General Manager of Corporate and Financial Services gave a PowerPoint
presentation providing information on property taxation and tax multiples.
4.4 Metro Vancouver Regional Growth Strategy Update
Mayor Daykin provided an update on discussions at Metro Vancouver
pertaining to the Regional Growth Strategy and the City of Coquitlam's
concerns. He outlined how concerns were addressed and will provide a copy
of the language of a resolution put forward at the discussion to Council
members.
The Acting General Manager of Public Works and Development Services
reviewed the process dealing with the City of Coquitlam's concerns and spoke
to a five year review of the Regional Growth Strategy proposed for the future.
5. CORRESPONDENCE
The following correspondence has been received and requires a response. Staff is
seeking direction from Council on each item. Options that Council may consider
include:
a) Acknowledge receipt of correspondence and advise that no further action will be
taken.
b) Direct staff to prepare a report and recommendation regarding the subject
matter.
c) Forward the correspondence to a regular Council meeting for further discussion.
d) Other.
Once direction is given the appropriate response will be sent.
5.1 Province of British Columbia, Office of the Premier -2011 UBCM Convention
Letter dated June 16, 2011 from Christy Clark, Premier, Province of British
Columbia providing information on the submission of requests for meetings
with Ministers during the 2011 UBCM convention.
Mayor Daykin requested that Councillors provide the Acting Corporate Officer
with a list of Provincial Ministers they wish to meet with and issues they wish
addressed.

5.2 Province of British Columbia, Office of Minister Ida Chong -2011 UBCM
Convention
Letter dated July 8, 2011 from Ida Chong, Minister of Community, Sport and
Cultural Development, providing information on the submission of requests
for meetings with herself and other government, agency and commission staff
during the 2011 UBCM convention
5.3 Union of British Columbia Municipalities -Large Urban Forum 2011
Memo dated July 11, 2011 from the UBCM Secretariat requesting the
submission of topics for the "Large Urban Forum" workshop to be held on
September 27, 2011.
The Acting Corporate Officer requested that Councillors forward a list of topics
to him for submission.
