ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA The agenda was adopted as circulated. 2. MINUTES R/2012-135 Minutes March 19, 2012 It was moved and seconded That the minutes of the Council Workshop Meeting of March 19, 2012 be adopted as circulated. CARRIED Council Workshop Minutes April 2, 2012 Page 2 of 4 3. PRESENTATIONS AT THE REQUEST OF COUNCIL -Nil 4. UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS 4.1 RCMP Update Superintendent Dave Walsh gave a PowerPoint presentation providing highlights of the Ridge-Meadows RCMP Annual Report for 2011. 4.2 Wildlife Interface Management Strategy -Presentation by Conservation Officer Denny Chretien, Fraser Valley Zone Conservation Officer Service, Ministry of Environment Officer Chretien spoke to the goal of the Conservation Officer Service in having communities realize the importance of dealing with human/wildlife conflict and taking ownership in helping to mitigate negative interactions between humans and wildlife. He provided a chart outlining bear calls in the Maple Ridge area and provided information on the Bear Aware Program. He advised that the contact number for the Fraser Valley Zone Conservation Officer Service is 1-877-952-7277. 4.3 Bear Aware Program -Presentation by Kim Day, Executive Director, Ridge Meadows Recycling Society Staff report dated April 2, 2012 providing information on the "Bear Aware Program". The Director of Parks and Facilities reviewed the report. He provided an overview of the Bear Aware Program in Maple Ridge. The Executive Director of the Ridge Meadows Recycling Society gave a PowerPoint presentation outlining the steps for bear awareness the Society is focusing on and providing details on the Bear Aware Program. R/2012-136 Bear Aware Program It was moved and seconded That the staff report dated April 2, 2012 titled "Bear Aware Program" be received information. CARRIED Council Workshop Minutes April 2, 2012 Page 3 of 4 Note: The meeting was recessed at 11:05 a.m. and reconvened at 11:10 a.m. 4.4 Reserves Staff report dated April 2, 2012 providing an overview of the District's financial resources. The Manager of Accounting reviewed the report. She gave a PowerPoint presentation which provided information on transfers, accumulated surplus, (revenue funds), reserve funds, reserve accounts and restricted revenues. R/2012-137 Reserves It was moved and seconded That a discussion regarding the creation of a policy on an agricultural land conversion tax reserves fund, with the establishment of criteria for the use of such a fund, be added to the Council Matrix. CARRIED 4.5 Municipal Police Unit Agreement Staff report dated April 2, 2012 recommending that the Municipal Police Unit Agreement be approved and that the Corporate Officer be authorized to sign and seal the agreement. The General Manager of Corporate and Financial Services reviewed the report. R/2012-138 Municipal Police Unit Agreement Sign and seal It was moved and seconded That the Municipal Police Unit Agreement dated April 1, 2012 be approved and that the Corporate Officer be authorized to sign and seal the agreement. CORRESPONDENCE 5.1 Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development -Strategic Community Investment Funds Letter dated February 24, 2012 from the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development requesting authorization for entering into a Strategic Community Investment Funds Agreement. R/2012-139 Strategic Community Investment Funds Sign and seal It was moved and seconded That the Corporate Officer be authorized to sign and seal the Strategic Community Investment Funds Agreement.
