REPORT OF PUBLIC HEARING
April 19, 2022
The report of the Public Hearing held as a virtual meeting hosted in the Council Chambers of
City Hall, 11995 Haney Place, Maple Ridge, British Columbia on April 19, 2022 at 7:00 p.m.

Note: The Mayor, Councillors Robson, Dueck, Svendsen and Yousef participated
electronically. The Acting Mayor, C. Meadus, chaired the meeting from Council
Chambers.

The Acting ·Mayor called the meeting to order. The Acting Corporate Officer explained the
procedure and rules of order of the Public Hearing and advised that the bylaws will be
considered further at the next Council Meeting on April 26, 2022.
The Acting Mayor then called upon Planning Department staff to present the following item
on the agenda:
1) 2021-457-RZ, Regulation of Pharmacies
1a) Maple Ridge Zone Amending Bylaw No. 7790-2021
First Reading: March 8, 2022
Second Reading: March 8, 2022
Purpose: To amend Maple Ridge Zoning Bylaw No. 7600-2019 to:

• introduce a definition for a pharmacy use;
• prohibit the principal pharmacy use within the City of
Maple Ridge;
• prohibit the accessory pharmacy use in commercial
establishments with less than 700 square meters of
Gross Leasable Area within the Town Centre Area; and
• regulate the accessory pharmacy use outside of the Town
Centre Area by implementing a geographic buffer of
400m between new pharmacy applications.
The subject application is to regulate pharmacy use within the City of Maple Ridge.
L. Zosiak, Manager of Community Planning, gave a detailed presentation providing
information on the application.
The Corporate Officer advised that that no correspondence was received in response
to this item.
The Acting Mayor called for speakers three times.
There being no comment, the Acting Mayor declared this item dealt with.
Having given all those persons whose interests were deemed affected by the matters
contained herein a chance to be heard, the Acting Mayor adjourned the Public Hearing
at 7:06 p.m.
