ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA The agenda was adopted with the addition of the following item : 4.4 Update on Council Chambers 2. MINUTES R/04-447 Minutes Sept. 27, Oct. 4, 2004 MOVED by Councillor Daykin SECONDED by Councillor Isaac That the minutes of the Council Workshop Meeting of September 27 and October 4, 2004 be adopted as circulated. PRESENTATIONS AT THE REQUEST OF COUNCIL -Nil 4. 4.1 UNFINISHED AND NEW BUS/NESS Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows Tourism Society Update Cheryl Johnson, Sharon Kyle, Alex Kempenaar, Terry Wilding, Bob Timms, Paul Merrick, and Pat Kramer of Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows Tourism Society were in attendance. Cheryl Johnson and Alex Kempenaar gave a Power Point presentation providing an overview of tourism in Maple Ridge. A copy of the presentation was circulated. 4.2 2005 Meeting Schedule for Council, Committee of the Whole, Public Hearing and Council Workshop Staff report dated September 27, 2004 providing a draft meeting schedule for 2005. The Municipal Clerk reviewed the schedule. It was the consensus of Council that Closed Cowicil meetings be scheduled every week and that an additional Council meeting be scheduled for September 27, 2005 with Committee of the Whole scheduled for September 19, 2005. 4.3 Financial Sustainability Plan -Policy Guidelines Staff report dated September 22, 2004 recommending that the Financial Sustainability Policies be approved. The General Manager Corporate and Financial Services indicated that it was the intent to make a full presentation of the Policies at the Council meeting on October 26, 2004. It was the consensus of Council that staff prepare a resolution for the October 26, 2004 providing a recommendation for the allocation of the additional revenue that will be generated by the Provincial Government from traffic fines and that the text of Policy 3.0 be amended to delete reference to a specific amount. Note: Meeting adjourned at 10:30 a.m. and reconvened at 1 :45 p.m. I ~ i i I ~ i l I ' _) Council Workshop Minutes October 18, 2004 Page 3 of4 4.4 Council Chambers Update The Acting Chief Administrative Officer advised that it had been determined that the floor in Council Chambers had to be replaced rather than repaired resulting in a 2 week delay in completion. It will be mid-November before Council Chambers is available for use. 5. CORRESPONDENCE Note: Item 5 .1 was dealt with prior to item 4.1 5.1 Council of Tourism Associations of British Columbia Letter dated October 4, 2004 from Michael Campbell, Chair, requesting that Council pass a resolution in support of the Provincial Government's dedication to further developing the tourism industry. Attached is a suggested resolution prepared by Director of Economic Development. R/04-448 MOVED by Councillor Gordon Council of Tourism SECONDED by Councillor Dueck 5.2 That the letter dated October 4, 2004 from Michael Campbell, Chair, Council of Tourism Associations of British Columbia be forwarded to the next available Council meeting. CARRIED United Steelworkers of America -IWA Council Letter received October 12, 2004 requesting Council consider passing a resolution to write to the Honourable James Peterson, Minister of International Trade suggesting that the Government of Canada work hard to get the forest industry's money and that he seek their commitment to increased investment. R/04-449 MOVED by Councillor Dueck United Steelworkers SECONDED by Councillor Harris of America That the letter received October 12, 2004 from the United Steelworkers of America be received for information and no further action taken.
