4.1 Discussion of ALR Application Process
The Director of Planning reviewed the staff report dated July 2, 2004 outlining a
process for a public information meeting regarding the seven applications to
exclude land from the Agricultural Land Reserve that will be considered at the
July 13, 2004 Council Meeting. Staff recommended holding the meeting on July
12, 2004 rather than on July 13, 2004 as resolved by Council at the June 22, 2004
Council Workshop. She advised that the Agricultural Land Commission requires
that a synopsis of the meeting be included with the applications if they are
forwarded to the Commission by Council. She reviewed the notification process
and Council discussed the advisability of advertising once in both the Maple
Ridge Times and the Maple Ridge News. She confirmed that there is no
requirement by the Commission for a municipality to hold a public information
meeting on an application. This is a choice that is made by Council.
