The Minutes. of the Municipal Council Workshop held on April 5, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. in
the Blaney Room of the Municipal Hall, 11995 Haney Place, Maple Ridge, British
Columbia for the purpose of transacting regular Municipal business.

4.1 Financial Workshop -Other Revenue Sources, Part 2
The Director of Finance and Accountant III gave a Power Point presentation on
Reserve Funds, Reserve Accounts, Fund Balances and Surplus. A copy of the
presentation was circulated.
4.2 Maple Ridge, 227 Street Road Works Local Improvement Construction
Bylaw No. 6215-2004
Staff report dated March 31, 2004 recommending that Bylaw No. 6215-2004 be
reconsidered and adopted.
The General Manager Public Works and Development Services reviewed the
report and provided information on the communication plan for this project.

The Municipal Clerk advised that in response to a request from Council to set up
a meeting with Port Coquitlam and Pitt Meadows to discuss transportation issues,
a tentative date of April 21, 2004 has been set with Port Coquitlam. The date has
not yet been confirmed with Pitt Meadows. Council indicated that April 21, 2004
was an appropriate date and directed the Municipal Clerk to continue to make
appropriate arrangements.

4.4 Nanaimo Bylaw re Liquor Sales
Councillor Speirs indicated that he had been approached by a local pub owner and
asked if Council would consider a bylaw placing a minimum charge on drinks
similar to the bylaw passed by the City ofNanaimo. It was the consensus of
Council that staff be directed to gather information on this topic for discussion at
a future Council Workshop.
ACTION REQUIRED
Staff is to prepare information on the control of liquor prices at licensed
premises.
