COUNCIL WORKSHOP
January 17, 2005
The Minutes of the Municipal Council Workshop held on January 17, 2005 at 9:00 a.m.
in the Blaney Room of the Municipal Hall, 11995 Haney Place, Maple Ridge, British
Columbia for the purpose of transacting regular Municipal business.

Councillor Isaac chaired the meeting in the absence of the Mayor and Acting
Mayor.

3. PRESENTATIONS AT THE REQUEST OF COUNCIL -Nil
4. UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS
4.1 OCP Review -Public Process
The Director of Planning provided an overview of the format, dates and
notification process for Public Open Houses on the Official Community Plan. The
fo llo'vving are the tentative dates and locations:
Monday, February 21
Thursday, February 24
Monday, February 28
Thursday, March 3
Ridge Meadows Seniors Society, Hall A
Maple Ridge Golf Course
Thomas Haney Secondary School, Rotllilda
Whonnock Lake Centre
The time for each Open House is 5:00 p.m. -8:30 p.m.
The cut-off date for submission of comments will be March 15, 2005. The Open
House displays will be set up in Municipal Hall between March 4 and March 15.
Copies of all reports on the OCP review will be available at the Maple Ridge
Library.
4.2 King's Inn Update
The General Manager Community Development, Parks and Recreation advised
that as a result of the needs of the homeless identified in the series of Workshops
held by the District in the Fall of 2004, King's Inn is discussing changes to the
services that they provide. He asked Council if they would like representatives of
the organization to attend a Council Workshop to provide further information on
their plans.
It was the consensus of Council to invite representatives of King's Inn to make a
presentation at a future Council Workshop.
ACTION REQUIRED
Staff is to make arrangements for representatives of King's Inn to make a
presentation on changes to their services at a Council Workshop meeting.

4.3 Public Hearing Notification
The Municipal Clerk and the GIS Technician gave a Power Point presentation
providing information on the notification requirements for Public Hearings. A
copy of the presentation was circulated at the meeting. The Municipal Clerk
suggested that Council may wish to direct the Clerk's Department to examine the
cun-ent notification requirements and report back to Council.

The Clerk's Department is to prepare a report for Council on the notification
requirements for Public HeJtring.
4.4 2005 Property Assessment and TransLink Levy
This item was deferred to the January 24, 2005 Council Workshop.
4.5 MFA AGM Meeting and Financial Forum 2005
Councillor Isaac provided information to Council on this meeting and suggested
that members of Council consider attending.
5 CORRESPONDENCE
5.1 Horse Bylaw, Ian Harms
Letter dated December 26. 2004 from Ian Harms requesting that Council consider
developing a bylaw that would make riding a safer experience.

That the letter dated December 26, 2004 from Ian Harms be
referred to the Traffic Management Committee for comment;
and

That staff be directed to prepare a report on the subject
matter of the Jetter; and further
That a letter be sent to Mr. Harms advising him of the actions
that have been taken by the District in this regard.
