ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA The agenda was approved as circulated. 2. MINUTES R/05-222 Minutes May 30, 2005 MOVED by Councillor Daykin SECONDED by Councillor Isaac That the minutes of the Council Workshop Meeting of May 30, 2005 be adopted as circulated. CARRIED Council Workshop Minutes June 13, 2005 Page 2 of3 3. PRESENTATIONS AT THE REQUEST OF COUNCIL -Nil 4. UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS 4.1 Exercise "Wildfire" Staff report dated June 1, 2005 providing information on the February 28, 2005 Emergency Operations Centre exercise._ The Joint Emergency Coordinator gave a Power Point presentation of the highlights of Exercise "Wildfire". A copy of the presentation was circulated. He advised that the District bas applied for a grant to conduct a smaller scale exercise in 2006 that will simulate a rail disaster. 4.2 Federation of Canadian Municipalities Conference Councillor Harris and Councillor Speirs reported on their impressions of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Conference and spoke of the sessions they attended. The Chief Administrative Officer announced that at the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators Conference held prior to the FCM Conference he accepted an environmental award presented to the District of Maple Ridge for its stream mapping project. 4.3 Community Policing Meeting Mayor Morse reported on a Community Policing Meeting at the Industrial Park. She indicated that the meeting was very well received by those in attendance. The Director of Licenses, Permits and Bylaws has been asked to attend the next meeting to speak to bylaw issues. 4.4 Proposed meeting with M.L.A.'s Council directed staff to invite the two local M.L.A. 's to attend a future Council Workshop. ACTION REQUIRED Staff is to arrange for the local M.L.A. 's to attend a Council Workshop. ) Council Workshop Minutes June 13, 2005 Page 3 of3 4.5 Saanich School Board Resolution for UBCM Council discussed an email from the Saanich School Board requesting the endorsement of the Union of British Columbia Municipalities for targeted funding from the Provincial Government. Council directed staff to contact the Board of Directors of School District 42 for comment on this request and to ask if the Board would recommend foiwarding the request to the B.C.S.T.A. ACTION REQUIRED . Staff is to contact School District 42 for comment on the email from th e Saanicb School District. 5. CORRESPONDENCE -Nil 6.
