CALL TO ORDER -3:33 p.m. 2. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA R/2022-001 It was moved and seconded Council Liaison Council Liaison Alternate Member at Large -Artist Member at Large -Artist Member at' Large -Architect Arts Council Representative Member ati Large -Developer/Community Staff Liaison/Manager of Arts and Community Connections Director of Recreation and Community Engagement Project Manager, Engineering Department Committee Clerk Member at: Large -Community That the February 3, 2022 Public Art Steering Committee Regular Meeting Agenda be approved as circulated. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 3. ADOPTION OF MINUTES R/2022-002 It was moved and seconded That the minutes of the Public Art Steering Committee Regular Meeting dated September 9, 2021 be adopted. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 4. ELECTIONS The Committee appointed Susan Hayes as Chair and Steven Bartok as Vice Chair for 2022. R/2022-003 It was moved and seconded That Susan Hayes be appointed as Chair!of the Public Art Steering Committee for 2022. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY R/2022-004 It was moved and seconded Public Art Steering Committee Minutes February 3, 2022 Regular Meeting Page 2 of 4 That Steven Bartok be appointed as Vice Chair of the Public Art Steering Committee for 2022. I CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 5. Delegations 5.1 132 Avenue/Fern Crescent Corridor Potential Gateway Project Manager, Bradley Romeo, presented an overview of the 132 Avenue/Fern Crescent Corridor potential gateway, including the opportunity for two roundabout installations. Note: Yvonne Chui joined the meeting at 3:58 pm. Note: Brad Romeo left the meeting at 3:59 pm. R/2022-005 It was moved and seconded That the Committee approves the installation of public art in the 132 Avenue and Fern Crescent and 132 Avenue and 232 Street roundabouts, and establishes a task force including Steven Bartok, Amie! Logan and Philippa Glossop to investigate the call for public art installations and work in conjunction with the engineering department. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 6 NEW AND UNFINISHED BUSINESS 6.1 Business Plan 2022 The Comm ittee discussed the 2022 Work Plan approved by Council. 6.2 Committee Recruitment and Membership Review The Staff Liaison provided an overview of the Committee's membership composition. 6.3 Street Banners 2022 The Committee approved the design of the street banners. R/2022-006 It was moved and seconded That the Committee approve the 2022 banner designs as recommended by the Selection Panel -Charlotte Johnson, Tammy Routley, and Rain Trenton Pierre (Katzie). CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 6.4 Kanaka Regional Park Update Public Art Steering Committee Minutes February 3, 2022 Regular Meeting Page 3 of 4 The Staff Liaison provided an update on the Kanaka Regional Park Update; the artist is working with local schools, on line session about business of art, on target for delivery of project. 6.5 Placemaking Framework The Staff Liaison provided an overview of the Placemaking Framework document. 6.6 132 Avenue/Fern Crescent Corridor Gateway This item was dealt within Item 5.1. Note: Councillor Ryan Svendsen joined the meeting at 4:26 pm. 6. 7 Community Public Art Grant Program Aaron Moran and Taryn Hubbard, the 2020-2023 Haney Artists-in-Residence, outlined their Community Public Art Application, which involves a mural for the north and south facing retaining walls and corrugated metal tunnel located at the 224th Street pedestrian underpass. i R/2022-007 It was moved and seconded That the Committee approve the budget requested by the Port Haney Artist in Residence, Aaron Moran and Taryn Hubbard towardslthe mural for the pedestrian tunnel on 224th phase 1 (north and south walls) in 2022. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 7 LIAISON UPDATES 7.1 Council Liaison Council Meadus commented on the potential redevelopment of Haney Place Mall, which would incorporate smaller scale storefronts. 7.2 Staff Liaison The Staff Liaison provided an update on the following: • Danielle Pope, Director of Recreation & Community Engagement will be the interim Staff Liaison for the Committee • With the widening of Highway 7, the Ministry of Transportation is interested in public art components • Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan work is underway Note: Councillors Ryan Svendsen and Chelsa Mead us left the meeting at 4:56 pm 8 TASK FORCE UPDATES 8.1 Public Art Plan Framework and Policy -NIL 6.8 Maclean Homes Public Art Pu blic Art Steering Committee Minutes February 3, 2022 Regular Meeting Page 4 of 4 Yorke & Karen Graham described their proposal for the Maclean Homes Public Art project. R/2022-008 It was moved and seconded That the Committee accept proposal for Maclean Homes Public Art project by Yorke & Karen Graham with some modifications to ameliorate the hazards of hard edges. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 9 QUESTION PERIOD FOR THE PUBLIC -NI Li 8 ROUNDTABlE Committee members shared details on upcoming events related to public art in the community. 9 ADJOURNMENT -5:25 pm e next regular Public Art Steering Committee meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 7, 22 at 4:00 pm.
