COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT Councillor Svendsen Susan Hayes, Chair Courtney Miller Donald Luxton STAFF PRESENT Danielle Pope Darlene Slevin Arsh Dhillon ABSENT Leigh Smith Amiel Logan Steven Bartok, Vice Chair 1. CALL TO ORDER -4:00 pm 2. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA R/2022-PASC-014 It was moved and seconded Council Liaison Member at Large -Artist Arts Council Representative Member at Large -Developer/Community Staff Liaison & Director of Recreation and Community Engagement Staff Liaison & Acting Manager of Arts and Community Connections Committee Clerk Member at, Large -Community Member at Large -Artist Member at; Large -Architect That the September 1, 2021 Public Art 1Steering Committee Regular Meeting Agenda be approved as circulated. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 3. ADOPTION OF MINUTES R/2022-PASC-015 It was moved and seconded That the minutes of the Public Art Steering Committee meeting dated July 7, 2022 be adopted. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 4. DELEGATIONS -NIL 5. NEW AND UNFINISHED BUSINESS 5.1 Committee Membership Review Doc#2984723 Public Art Steering Committee Minutes September 1, 2022 Regular Meeting Page 2 of 3 A. Dhillon, Committee Clerk, provided an update on the PASC membership recruitment process and progress. S. Hayes, Chair, clarified which Task Forces committee members are assigned to. 5.2 2023 Work Plan D. Pope and D. Slevin, Staff Liaisons, provided an update on the progress of the 2022 Work Plan deliverables. D. Pope recommended the PASC carry the unfinished 2022 Work Plan items onto the 2023 Work Plan. The committee discussed ideas for permanent or temporary art pieces for the Albion Community Centre. Art ideas included: tapestry, sculptures, and banners. The PASC members endorsed the draft 2023 Work Plan. 5.3 Cultural Map Task Force S. Hayes, Chair, provided an overview and 1purpose of the Cultural Map Task Force. The PASC will reach out to other Advisory Committee~ for the City of Maple Ridge regard ing involvement with the Cultural Map Task Force. D. Pope ; Staff Liaison, outlined the budget for the Cultural Map. R/2022-PASC-016 It was moved and seconded That the Public Art Steering Committee form the Cultural Map Task Force and be provided with a budget of up to $15,000 to design and develop the Cultural Map. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 6 LIAISON UPDATES 6.1 Staff Liaison Darlene Slevin provided an update on the following: • Artist in Residence for Fern Crescent was extended until the end of October 2022. Danielle Pope provided an update on the following: • PRC Master Plan summary document with high-level findings will be distributed to the community 6.2 Council Liaison Councillor Ryan Svendsen provided an update on the following: • Many community parks and facilities opened over the summer, including Albion Community Centre, Silvery Valley Gathering Place, and Jordan Mclldoon Legacy Bike Park • Council will be resuming on September 6, 2022 7 TASK FORCE UPDATES '' i 7.1 Public Art Plan Framework and Policy Public Art Steering Committee Minutes September 1, 2022 Regular Meeting Page 3 of 3 D. Pope, Staff Liaison , requested the committee members brainstorm a list of best practice art-based policies in other local municipalities. The City of Maple Ridge has on boarded consultant, Patricia Huntsman, to facilitate the policy review. D. Luxton suggested reviewing art policies outside of British Columbia as there are many good examples. 7.2 Artist in Residence Program D. Slevin, Staff Liaison, provide an overview of the call for artists and timeline adjustments. D. Slevin stated that the PASC will be sent!a link of the call for artists once the City of Maple Ridge website is updated. D. Luxton shared the example of the Prince George Museum with the teaching commercial kitchen. D. Slevin said they can res ea rch the idea more. 8 QUESTION PERIOD FOR THE PUBLIC -NIL 9 ROUNDTABLE Committee members shared details on upcoming events related to public art in the commun ity. 10 ADJOURNMENT -4:33 pm The next regular Public Art Steering Committee meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 4:00 pm.
