SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING January 29, 2002
The Minutes of the Municipal Council Meeting held on January 29, 2002 at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber of the Municipal Hall, 11995 Haney Place, Maple Ridge, British Columbia for the purpose of transacting special Municipal business.

1. CALL TO ORDER
2. EQUIPMENT CONTRACT AWARD – ARTS CENTRE
R/02-41 2.1 Arts Centre Contract MOVED by Councillor King Irwin Seating Company, SECONDED by Councillor Isaac
Inc.
That the contract for the supply and installation of theatre seating be awarded to the low bidder, Irwin Seating Company, Inc., for the bid price of $139,209.95.
On question, the General Manager of Community Development, Parks and
Recreational Services confirmed that the cost of the proposed equipment is within the amount that has been fundraised to date. Additional equipment will be required, however, this equipment would enable the Arts Centre to be functional should fundraising not meet its goal. The sound and lighting systems are capable
of being expanded upon should additional funding be available. He advised that
Special Council Minutes January 29, 2002 Page 2 of 3 the designer had taken acoustical requirements into consideration when selecting the seats. CARRIED
Note: Councillor Gordon arrived at 6:12 p.m. R/02-42 2.2 Arts Centre Contract MOVED by Councillor Morse
William F. White Ltd. SECONDED by Councillor Isaac That the contract for the supply and installation of theatre stage curtains and rigging be awarded to the low bidder, William F. White Ltd., for the bid price of $328,192.30. CARRIED
R/02-43 2.3 Arts Centre Contract MOVED by Councillor King Pro Sound and Stage SECONDED by Councillor Isaac Lighting That the contract for the supply and installation of theatre audio systems be awarded to the low bidder, Pro Sound and Stage Lighting, for the bid price of $245,968.79. CARRIED
On question, the General Manager of Community Development, Parks and Recreational Services explained that price was the determining factor in awarding of the contracts. All companies who submitted bids were deemed to be equally capable of providing the equipment. He noted that the price includes G.S.T. but
should that be recoverable, the money would be put into a contingency fund. 3. ADJOURN - 6:15 p.m.
