COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT Councillor Karleen Carreras Wayne Bissky, Chair Gina Rubin Leblanc, Vice Chair Courtney Miller Dana Bates STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT Darlene Slevin Elizabeth Murphy Arsh Dhillon ABSENT 1. CALL TO ORDER -4:00 pm 2. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA R/2023-PASC-009 It was moved and seconded Council Liaison Architect Artist Arts Council Representative Member at Large Staff Liaison, Recreation Coordinator -Volunteer & Special Events Clerk 3 Cor:nmittee Clerk That the April 6, 2023 Public Art Steering Committee agenda be approved as circulated. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 3. ADOPTION OF THE MINUTES R/2023-PASC-010 It was moved and seconded That the minutes of the Public Art Steering Committee meeting dated March 2, 2023 be adopted as circulated. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 4. DELEGATIONS -NIL 5. NEW AND UNFINISHED BUSINESS 5.1. Committee Member Introductions New members introduced themselves to the group. 5.2. Culture Map Public Art Steering Committee Minutes April 6, 2023 Page 2 of 3 The Staff Liaison, D. Slevin, presented a brief overview of the Culture Map and discussed the call for artists, 2023 PASC budget, art tours around the community, online tools and the Museum-Trees in Bloom exhibition. R/2023-PASC-011 It was moved and seconded That Dana Bates and Courtney Miller be appointed to the Culture Map Task Force for 2023. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 5.3. ACT 20th Anniversary Public Art Proje~ -Courtney Miller C. Miller, Arts Council Representative, presented on the ACT 20th Anniversary Window Art Installation. Topics included: project goals, timelines, parameters, building fagade, artist eligibility, project phases, and examples from other municipalities. Committee members discussed: artist eligibility, selection process timeline, deadlines, copy right laws and artwork parameters. 5.4. Council's Strategic Plan Councillor Carreras provided a brief overview of Council's Strategic Plan. Topic included: core values, mission and vision statement, a livable community, an engaged healthy community, arts and culture, and diversifying a thriving economy. 6. LIAISON UPDATES 6.1. Staff Liaison D. Slevin provided an update on the following: • The Lougheed Hwy pedestrian pathway mural approval for the north and south exteriors. 6.2. Council Liaison -NIL 7. TASK FORCES 7.1. Artist in Residence -Fern Crescent D. Slevin, Staff Liaison, provided an update on the Fern Crescent Artist in Residence project. Topics included: community groups involvement, location of artwork and relevant policies. Committee members discussed artist selection process and timelines. 7.2. Albion Community Centre Public Art Steering Committee Minutes April 6, 2023 Page 3 of 3 D. Slevin, Staff Liaison, provided an overtiew of the Albion Community Centre layout for art installation. Committee members discussed types of artwork that could be displayed, location, and community collaboration to promote diversity. R/2023-PASC-012 It was moved and seconded That Wayne Bissky, Gina Rubin Leblanc, Courtney Miller and Councillor Karleen Carreras be appointed to the Albion Community Centre Task Force or 2023. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 8. QUESTION PERIOD FOR THE PUBLIC-NIL; 9. ROUNDTABLE 10. Wa /em Committee members provided updates and reports on relevant events and activities related to public art in the community.
