Information
Directions: This Heritage walk is located just south of downtown Maple Ridge along the Haney Bypass. Start your walk at the Maple Ridge Museum located on 116th Ave. From here you will take in various buildings while walking west on 116th Ave
following the path into the property of the Haney House and Orchard. Now walk south on 224th St. through the pedestrian underpass. At this point you can cross the train tracks to the Port Haney Wharf or follow River Rd past the Bank and north up
223rd Street to view the Church.
Port Haney was named after Thomas Haney, a brick maker from Ontario, who originally owned all the land between the Fraser River and Dewdney Trunk and from 223rd to 225th Streets. He subdivided his land as the railway was being built and established a small commercial and residential area near the railway and wharf facilities. His original 1878-built house was donated to the
Municipality by his descendents in 1979. Take a stroll and you can learn more about these locations from the Museum or Haney House.
