No Municipal Sanitary Sewer shall be permitted to be extended to serve lands in the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR) unless there is an overriding public health concern and approval from the British Columbia Agricultural Land Commission, and the property to be served is included in whole or in part within the Fraser Sewerage Area by the Greater Vancouver Sewerage and Drainage District. Any such extension shall be at the property owner’s cost. 2. Properties in the ALR and within the Greater Vancouver Sewerage and Drainage District (GVS&DD) Fraser Sewerage Area abutting an existing Municipal Sanitary Sewer shall be permitted to connect thereto for discharge of only domestic sewage, unless explicitly permitted otherwise by Council. No connections shall be permitted to Sanitary Forcemains. Purpose: The purpose of this policy is to set the framework for municipal sewerage systems in the ALR. Definitions: Municipal Sanitary Sewer: A sewer, including a low pressure sewer, installed in the District of Maple Ridge’s road allowance and owned by the District, for the purpose of collecting and conveying sewage for treatment at a GVS&DD regional sewage treatment plant and excludes sanitary forcemains. Sanitary Forcemain: A pipe in which sewage from a municipally owned and operated sewage pump/lift station is transmitted to a receiving inlet.
