CARRIED 600 PRESENTATIONS AT THE REQUEST OF COUNCIL - Nil 700 DELEGATIONS 701 2008 BC Law Enforcement Torch Run - Final Leg for Special Olympics - Corporal Michael McCauley Corporal McCauley provided an overview on the BC Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics and shared anecdotes of contributions to the fundraising effort. R/08-261 BL No. 6577-2008 It was moved and seconded That Maple Ridge Municipal Officials Indemnification Amending Bylaw No. 6577-2008 be adopted. CARRIED 1002 Maple Ridge Unsightly and Untidy Premises Bylaw No. 6533-2007 To change the process for notifying owners and to reduce the time for the property to be cleared to 7 days Final reading R/08-262 BL No. 6533-2007 It was moved and seconded That Bylaw No. 6533-2007 be adopted. CARRIED 1003 Maple Ridge Ticket Information System Utilization Amending Bylaw No. 6551-2008 To amend ticket information for certain offences under the Unsightly and Untidy Premises Bylaw Final reading R/08-263 BL No. 6551-2008 It was moved and seconded That Bylaw No. 6551-2008 be adopted. CARRIED Council Minutes June 10, 2008 Page 4 of 8 1004 Albion Dyking District Tax Rates Bylaw No. 6576-2008 and To impose taxes upon lands in the Albion Dyking District for 2008 Final reading R/08-264 BL No. 6576-2008 It was moved and seconded That Albion Dyking District Tax Rates Bylaw No. 6576-2008 be adopted. CARRIED 1005 Maple Ridge Road 13 Dyking District Tax Rates Bylaw No. 6578-2008 To impose taxes upon lands in the Maple Ridge Road 13 Dyking District for 2008. Final reading R/08-265 BL No. 6578-2008 It was moved and seconded That Maple Ridge Road 13 Dyking District Tax Rates Bylaw No. 6578-2008 be adopted. CARRIED 1006 Maple Ridge Recreation Facility Fees Amending Bylaw No. 6571-2008 To amend rental rates and admission categories for Parks and Leisure facilities Final reading R/08-266 BL No. 6571-2008 It was moved and seconded That Bylaw No. 6571-2008 be adopted. CARRIED Public Works and Development Services 1101 Dog Pound and Dog Control Bylaw Staff report dated June 2, 2008 recommending that Maple Ridge Dog Pound and Dog Control Amending Bylaw No. 6582-2008 be given first, second and third readings. R/08-268 BL No. 6582 It was moved and seconded That Maple Ridge Dog Pound and Dog Control Amending Bylaw No. 6582-2008 be given first, second and third readings. CARRIED 1102 Canada Day Event Staff report dated May 20, 2008 recommending the use of municipal streets for the annual Canada Day Event on Tuesday, July 1, 2008. R/08-269 Canada Day Event It was moved and seconded July 1, 2008 That use of municipal streets be authorized for the annual Canada Day Event on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, provided the conditions outlined in Schedule `A' attached to the staff report dated May 20, 2008 are met. CARRIED Council Minutes June 10, 2008 Page 6 of 8 1103 Award of Contract - Road Improvements Staff report dated June 4, 2008 recommending that Contract E02-010-098 for Road Improvements on Cottonwood Drive from Dewdney Trunk Road to 117B Avenue be awarded to Double M Excavating Ltd. R/08-270 Award of Contract Road Improvements It was moved and seconded That Contract E02-010-098, Road Improvements on Cottonwood Drive from Dewdney Trunk Road to 117B Avenue, be awarded to Double M Excavating Ltd. in the amount of $538,867.58 and that the Corporate Officer be authorized to execute the contract. CARRIED Financial and Corporate Services (including Fire and Police) 1131 Award of Contract - Firehall #1 Renovations and Expansion Staff report dated June 2, 2008 recommending that subject to the adoption of Bylaw No. 6572-2008, Contract 01084 be awarded to Mierau Contractors Ltd. and that the Corporate Officer be authorized to execute the contract. R/08-271 Award of Contract Fire Hall #1 It was moved and seconded That subject to the adoption of Bylaw No. 6572-2008, Contract 01084 for Firehall #1 Renovations and Expansion, be awarded to Mierau Contractors Ltd. for $7,750,000 and the Corporate Officer be authorized to execute the contract. He commented on the continued increase in the lake level and thanked all those involved in the weir construction project for their efforts. 1500 COUNCILLORS' REPORTS Councillor Speirs Councillor Speirs attended the Federation of Canadian Municipalities convention held in Quebec City. Councillor Stewart Councillor Stewart attended the Federation of Canadian Municipalities convention held in Quebec City. He advised that a Senior Idol competition is being held on June 18 and encouraged any interested seniors to take part. Councillor Hogarth Councillor Hogarth attended the Federation of Canadian Municipalities convention, a Girl Guides of Canada award presentation of the Canada Cord and the Rick Hansen Wheels in Motion event. He also attended the graduation ceremonies at Westview Secondary and Samuel Robertson Technical Secondary. Councillor Dueck Councillor Dueck attended graduation ceremonies at Garibaldi Secondary, Westview Secondary and Samuel Robertson Technical Secondary. She acknowledged the community organizations which support graduates through scholarships and donations. Council Minutes June 10, 2008 Page 8 of 8 Councillor Daykin Councillor Daykin attended the Whonnock Community Association celebration of the 20th year anniversary of the opening of the Whonnock Lake Centre. He reminded residents of upcoming events which included the Operating Engineers Annual Open House and Equipment Rodeo on June 21 and the CP 2816 Express Stream Train event on June 27.
