CALL T TO ORDER O – 2:00 p.m. 2. DISCUSSION OF DRAFT METRO VANCOUVER REGIONAL GROWTH STRATEGY Continuation of the discussion of the staff report dated April 30, 2009 on the Metro Vancouver Draft Regional Growth Strategy. Mayor Daykin advised that Mr. Johnny Carline, Chief Administrative Officer, Metro Vancouver will be attending a future meeting of Council to address concerns around the urban and rural land designations in the draft Regional Growth Strategy. Note: Councillor Ashlie arrived at 2:05 p.m. Council Minutes May 19, 2009 Page 2 of 9 The Manager of Community Planning reviewed sections of the report individually and asked for Council direction on each section. 2.1 Population opulation Related elated Comments omments R/09-207 Population Related Comments It was moved and seconded That Metro Vancouver provide greater detail on the population projections for Maple Ridge including the methodology and the achievability of those projections. DEFEATED Mayor Daykin, Councillor Ashlie, Councillor Dueck, Councillor Hogarth, Councillor Morden – OPPOSED R/09-219 Green Zone Comments It was moved and seconded That Metro Vancouver clearly define whether the green zone terminology no longer exists and that the ne new terminology is w conservation/recreation, agricultural and rural; and further Council Minutes May 19, 2009 Page 6 of 9 That Metro Vancouver provide clarification on those three new categories and how they will be applied. CARRIED Councillor King, Councillor Speirs -OPPOSED 2.12 Ecological Health Plan Comment Comments R/09-220 Ecological Health Plan Comments It was moved and seconded That the District reserves right to review the Metro Vancouver Ecological Health Plan before adopting the regional growth strategy and allow comments to be for forwarded to the Regional warded District District.
