CARRIED 600 PRESENTATIONS AT THE REQUEST OF COUNCIL 601 224 Street and Lou Lougheed Highway Improvements gheed -Andrew ndrew Wood, Municipal Engineer The Municipal Engineer gave a PowerPoint presentation on the Town Centre Improvement Project for 224th Street. He provided the background on the project and work done to date, addressed challenges that will be faced during the construction phase and spoke to approaches to dealing with those challenges. He also provided information on issues critical to ensuring the success of the project and outlined the next steps to be followed in the process. Council Minutes February 9, 2010 Page 3 of 10 602 Economic Advisory Commission Update -Mike Shardlow, Chair Mr. Shardlow gave a PowerPoint presentation which outlined the role of the Economic Advisory Commission, highlighted the advantages the municipality offers its residents and prospective businesses and addressed challenges faced by the District. He put forward recommendations from the Economic Advisory Commission for work to be done in the future. 700 DELEGATIONS – Nil 800 UNFINISHED BUSINESS 801 Area Plan Assessment Policy Report Staff report dated January 20, 2010 recommending that the Area Planning Assessment Policy be adopted. CARRIED Public Works and Development Services 1101 DP/048/09, 23150, 23140, 23120, 23100, 22980, and 22956 Gilbert Drive Staff report dated January 22, 2010 recommending that the Corporate Officer be authorized to sign and seal DP/048/09 to permit construction of 21 townhouses under the New RST-SV (Street Townhouse – Silver Valley) zone. R/2010-087 DP/048/09 Sign and seal It was moved and seconded That the Corporate Officer be authorized to sign and seal DP/048/09 respect respecting properties located at 23150, 23140, ing 23120, 23100, 22980, and 22956 Gilbert Drive. CARRIED 1102 AL/089/09, 12852 224 Street, Non Farm Use (Garden Suite) Application within the Agricultural Land Reserve Staff report dated January 21, 2010 recommending that AL/089/09 be forwarded to the Agricultural Land Commission and that staff work with the Commission to prepare guidelines to expedite the approval process for similar applications. CARRIED 1103 Municipal Equipment Purchase, Two Single Axle Low Profile Recycling Trucks Staff report dated January 27, 2010 recommending that the contract for the purchase of two single axle low profile recycling trucks be awarded to Harbour International Trucks. R/2010-090 Award of Contract Harbour It was moved and seconded International Trucks That the contract for the purchase to two Sing Single Axle Low le Profile Recycling Trucks with Fort Fabrication Body be awarded to Harbour International Trucks and further that the District of Maple Ridge enter into a contract to purchase the two units for $286,506.88 including warrantee and optional items p plus lus applicable taxes of approximately $34,380.82. Pitt Meadows Airport Society Appointment of Director -appointment of Peter Boyle as a Director. Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Bicycle Advisory Committee -Term Appointments 2010-2011 -appointment of Steve Pukesh as a Committee at Large Member representing the District of Maple Ridge. 1400 MAYOR’S REPORT Mayor Daykin attended the Stand Alone Parade for the 354 RCSCC Invincible, the new Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps in Maple Ridge. He also attended the 2010 Olympic Touch Run event and the unveiling of pieces of art for the Spirit of Wood Celebration. Mayor Daykin expressed appreciation for all those participating in the “Paint the Town Red” initiative for the Olympic Winter Games. 1500 COUNCILLORS’ REPORTS Councillor Speirs Councillor Speirs attended meetings of the Maple Ridge Community Heritage Commission and the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Parks and Leisure Services Commission. He advised that the Community Heritage Commission Heritage Awards will be held on February 18 at St. Andrews Church. He encouraged residents to support the businesses on 224 Street during construction. Council Minutes February 9, 2010 Page 9 of 10 Councillor Ashlie Councillor Ashlie attended the 2010 Olympic Torch Run festivities. She expressed her appreciation to the Torch Run organizers. She also attended a meeting of the Agricultural Advisory Committee. Councillor Morden Councillor Morden attended the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay. He also attended a meeting of the Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association. He encouraged residents as well as business owners to report all crime to the RCMP. Councillor Dueck Councillor Dueck attended a meeting of the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Parks and Leisure Services Commission. She encouraged residents to attend an open house on February 11 for the draft Parks Master Plan. Councillor Dueck also attended the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay. She expressed appreciation to the committees organizing the event. Coun Councillor King cillor Councillor King attended the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay. She reminded residents that the ACT will be showing the opening ceremonies as well as the hockey games and the closing ceremonies. Councillor King attended meetings of the Agricultural Advisory Committee, the Social Planning Advisory Committee and the Fraser Valley Regional Library Board. Councillor Hogarth Councillor Hogarth attended the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay.
