Chair Mr. Speirs gave a presentation outlining work carried out by the Community Heritage Commission in 2012. He outlined project goals and the vision of the commission. Mr. Speirs
provided a history on the restoration of a heritage home in Maple Ridge and presented a Heritage Building Award to Becky Robinson and Gary MacNeal for the work done on their home. 800

explanation of what she planned to do in terms of Item 1101 and outlined her response to questions of conflict of interest pertaining to the application. She stated that she does not
have a pecuniary interest regarding Item 1101 however would leave the room out of respect and consideration of those making the decision related to this matter. 1101 RZ/087/08, 23103
136 Avenue, A A-2 to R R-2 Staff report dated February 18, 2013 recommending that Maple Ridge Zone Amending Bylaw No. 6973-2013 to rezone from A-2 (Upland Agricultural) to R-2 (Urban
Residential District) to allow for subdivision be given first reading, that additional consultation with School District No. 42 and the Ministry of Education be required and that School
No. 42 be requested to provide additional information on the scope of the comprehensive School District Facilities Plan and identify the location of the two elementary schools that
are needed in Silver Valley and that the applicant provide further information as described on Schedules A, C and F of the Development Procedures Bylaw No. 5879-1999 and a Subdivision
application. The Director of Planning gave a PowerPoint presentation providing details on Application RZ/087/08. She outlined options or alternatives available to Council in terms of
recommendations. R/2013-083 RZ/087/08 BL No. 6973-2013 It was moved and seconded Further information requested That prior to consideration of RZ/087/08 t that a l hat letter be sent
etter to School District No. 42 requesting that the School District provide additional information on the scope of the comprehensive School District Facilities Plan and identify the
location of the two elementary school sites that are needed in Silver Valley as per their letter of November 15, 2012; and fur further ther That School District No. 42 provide details

Development Zone) to permit a three-tower commercial and multiple residential mixed-use development be given first reading and that the application provide further information as described
on Schedules A, C and D of the Development Procedures Bylaw No. 5879-1999. R/2013-084 2011-115-RZ BL No. 6966-2013 It was moved and seconded First reading 1. In respect of Section 879
of the Local Government Act, requirement for consultation during the development or amendment of an Official Community Plan, Council must consider whether consultation is re required
with specifically: quired i. The Board of the Regional District in which the area covered by the plan is located, in the case of a Municipal Official Community Plan; ii. The Board of
the Regional District that is adjacent to the area covered by the plan; iii. The Council of any municipality that is adjacent to the area covered by the plan; iv. First Nations; v.
School District Boards, greater boards and improvement district boards; and vi. The Provincial and Federal Government and their agencies. and in that regard it is recommended that additional
consultation with School District No. 42 be required in respect of this matter, in addition to the early posting of the proposed Official Community Plan amendment on the District’s
website, together wi with an invitation to the public th to comment;

year term commencing January 1, 2013 For information only No motion required 1400 MAYOR’S REPORT Mayor Daykin advised that on February 27 at 7:00 p.m. there will be a town hall meeting
at the ACT for Save BC Film and encouraged residents to attend. He attended a Founder’s Dinner organized by local Boy Scouts groups and participated in Maple Ridge Secondary School
transition interviews for graduates. He met with a young lady with juvenile diabetes who wished to raise awareness of the illness and for whom he committed to participating in a future
walk for juvenile diabetes. He encouraged all of Council to participate. 1500 COUNCILLORS’ REPORTS Councillor Masse Councillor Masse attended a Social Planning Advisory Committee meeting.
He welcomed “TowTrux”, a new business, to Maple Ridge. Councillor Morden Councillor Morden attended the Maple Ridge Gaming Centre presentations, a Greg Moore Youth Centre Society meeting
and a meeting at the Salvation Army. Councillor Hogarth Councillor Hogarth wished to support Councillor Dueck in her comments and presentation prior to excusing herself from the discussion
of Item 1101.
Council Minutes February 26, 2013 Page 15 of 15 Councillor Bell Councillor Bell attended a meeting with Kim Day and Leanne Koehn of the Ridge Meadows Recycling Society to discuss the
Packaging and Printed Paper Stewardship Plan. She also attended the Local Government Leadership Academy Annual Conference and presentations by the Maple Ridge Gaming Centre. Councillor
Ashlie Councillor Ashlie attended a Fraser River Basin Educational session and Stave Lake Scottish Dancers event. She thanked Eric Phillips for his many years of work on behalf of Variety
the Children’s Charity. Councillor Dueck Councillor Dueck attended a meeting of the Arts Council and the Public Art Steering Committee. She reminded all that February 27 is Pink Shirt
