and cyclist) pathway on the east side of 232 Street. 1.8m wide pedestrian sidewalk on the west side of 232 Street. ADVANTAGES Protects cyclists and pedestrians from vehicular traffic.
Allows Paradise Creek to remain in its current alignment. DISADVANTAGES Downhill cyclists share the pathway with pedestrian and uphill cyclists. Steep topography makes mixing of downhill
cyclists with other users problematic. No stream side protection. Centre Line Centre Line

Rd. OPTION C SHARED TRAVEL LANE SOUTHBOUND 232 STREET – 132 AVENUE TO SILVER VALLEY ROAD CONCEPTUAL DESIGN DESIGN DETAILS 4.3m shared use lane (for vehicles and downhill cyclists) and
a 2.5m wide pathway on the east side of 232 Street. Standard 3.5m wide vehicle lane and 2.5m wide shared pathway (for pedestrians and uphill cyclists) on the west side of 232 Street.
ADVANTAGES Protects pedestrians from vehicular traffic. Reduces width of roadway. DISADVANTAGES Does not protect downhill cyclists from vehicular traffic. Some downhill cyclists will
choose to ride on the pathway on the west side of the road rather than use the shared lane. 2.5m wide pathways are generally not wide enough to accommodate two-way pedestrian traffic
and one-way cyclists. Requires re-alignment of 150m of Paradise Creek (roadside ditch). Paradise Creek Centre Line Centre Line Centre Line
