HomeMy WebLinkAboutExempt Staff Benefits.pdf EXEMPT STAFF BENEFITS VACATION SCHEDULE CALENDAR YEAR DAYS VACATION 1 15 pro-rated 2 to 7 15 8 to 12 20 13 to 19 25 20 + 30 TIME IN LIEU OF OVERTIME  Exempt staff can earn up to 15 days of pay by working hours beyond the standard workday. Lieu time hours are earned hour for hour and are taken in the next calendar year. For example, if you work eighty extra hours this year you will be entitled to ten days pay in the following year. The pay can be taken as cash or in paid time off. MEDICAL SERVICES PLAN  Basic Provincial Medical and Surgical coverage  100% of the premium is paid by the employee EXTENDED HEALTH BENEFITS PLAN  Includes: vision care to $400 every two years; hearing aids to $400 every two years; out-of- country emergency care expenses; prescription coverage; and the additional limited coverage for the services of a: psychologist, speech therapist, chiropractor, naturopath, optometrist, physiotherapist, and podiatrist  Expenses, except drugs, are subject to a $25.00 annual deductible and are reimbursed at 80% of the first $1000, and 100% thereafter  Pay Direct Drug Card for prescription purchases  Eligible dependents are covered to age 21 (or to age 25 if they are full-time students).  100% of the premium is paid by the employer DENTAL PLAN  Covers 100% of plan A - Routine Treatment - which includes: preventative services, x-rays, extractions, fillings, root canals, and treatment of gums page 2  Covers 70% of plan B - Major Treatment - which includes: crowns and bridges, onlays and inlays, and partial or complete dentures  Covers 50% of plan C - Orthodontics – to a maximum of $3000 per employee and dependent(s).  Expenses are covered to a maximum of $2000 per dependent each calendar  Eligible dependents are covered to age 21 (age 25 if they are f/t students)  100% of the premium is paid by the employer LONG TERM DISABILITY PLAN  Coverage to replace income lost because of a lengthy disability due to illness or injury  After a six month waiting period, benefit entitlement is 70% of the first $3,000 of monthly earnings plus, 50% of the remainder to a maximum of $10,000 per month  100% of the premium is paid by the employee SICK LEAVE  Earned at the rate of 1 1/2 days for each month of service. May be accumulated to a maximum of 250 days PENSION PLAN  Provisions are granted in accordance with the Municipal Superannuation Act  Pension amount is 2% for each year of pensionable service, up to 70% (including CPP benefits) of the average annual salary earned in the highest five earning years before retirement  Contributions begin upon commencement of employment  A defined benefit pension for which the employer pays approximately 10.38% of pensionable earnings and the employee pays 8.5% of pensionable earnings up to the years maximum pensionable earnings and 10.00% thereafter. GROUP LIFE INSURANCE  Coverage is 2X annual salary to a maximum of $400,000  100% of the premium is paid by the employer ACCIDENTAL DEATH AND DISMEMBERMENT  Coverage for loss of life as the result of an accident in the amount of the life insurance. Defined coverage for other specific losses/dismemberment resulting from an accident  “CAREpath Navigation System” ensures the emotional and medical needs of newly-diagnosed cancer patients are met in a timely and effective manner by helping patients navigate through the public health care system page 3  100% of the premium is paid by the employer SERVICE SEVERANCE PAY  Employees who retire (as defined by the Superannuation Pension Act) with a minimum of ten (10) years of service with the Employer, shall be paid twenty (20) days pay upon retirement. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT  Subject to funding availability, the District will pay 100% of professional association membership dues as approved by your Department Head
