Changes include improvements to the recording of room events, video conferencing capabilities and increased capac- ity for the display of information from people making presenta- tions in the room. The upgrades were done while Council was on their summer break and the new equipment was used throughout the morning meeting. Council thanked Ms. Crabtree for the demonstration. Council This Week is an informal summary of the reports and discussion of Council’s work at Workshop. This document will provide links to all reports and presentations that were provided to Council as part of their deliberations. The comments are not the official minutes of the meeting. These notes are intended to capture the essence of the discussion so that citizens can keep in touch with the work of Council in this public meeting. This version of Council This Week has been modified to a more accessi- ble version that better meets the needs of our citizens with visual impair- ments. Joint Leisure Services Review Brian Johnston, Consultant with Professional Environmental Recreation Consultants presented the final report relating to the Joint Leisure Services (JLS) model that is used by Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows in the operation of the Parks & Facilities department that serves both communities. The report evaluates the benefits of the current agreement and looks at the nature of the relation- ship between the parties, governance, service levels and other factors that relate to the operation of the JLS model. The report makes a number of conclusions and eight recommendations that will help deal with items noted in the review process. Council reviewed the recommendations and the item will come back before them later in September after a joint meeting of the Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows Councils and a presentation of the report to the Parks and Leisure Services Commission. Council This Week Page 2 Remedial Action Liz Holitzki, Director of Licences, Permits & Bylaws, presented Council with an overview presenta- tion relating to a report proposing remedial action with regards to a residence in the community to deal with a declared nuisance. After reviewing the material Council voted to support the recommen- dation from the report. Council thanked Ms. Holitzki for her presentation. Recordings of Council Policy Ceri Marlo, Manager of Legislative Services & Emergency Program, presented Council with the re- port and final draft of the Recordings of Council Policy. Council moved the item forward to the Au- gust 26, 2014. Council Meeting Agenda and thanked Ms. Marlo for her report 140th Birthday Celebration Fred Armstrong, Manager Corporate Communications, provided Council with a briefing on the events that are underway to celebrate the 140th Anniversary of the incorporation of Maple Ridge. He noted that this event will span over two days starting on Friday, September 12 and will end with the Haney Farmers Market on Saturday, September 13. Council thanked Mr. Armstrong for his report.
