deliberations.
The comments are not the official minutes of the meeting. These notes
are intended to capture the essence of the discussion so that citizens
can keep in touch with the work of Council in this public meeting.
This version of Council This Week has been modified to a more accessi-
ble version that better meets the needs of our citizens with visual impair-
ments.
Joint Leisure Services Review
Brian Johnston, Consultant with Professional Environmental Recreation Consultants presented the
final report relating to the Joint Leisure Services (JLS) model that is used by Maple Ridge and Pitt
Meadows in the operation of the Parks & Facilities department that serves both communities.
The report evaluates the benefits of the current agreement and looks at the nature of the relation-
ship between the parties, governance, service levels and other factors that relate to the operation of
the JLS model. The report makes a number of conclusions and eight recommendations that will
help deal with items noted in the review process.
Council reviewed the recommendations and the item will come back before them later in September
after a joint meeting of the Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows Councils and a presentation of the report
to the Parks and Leisure Services Commission.
