The Hammond Area Planning Process gets underway with an
open house that will be held at the Hammond Community Centre
from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The Hammond Community Centre
is located at 20601 West eld Avenue and the meeting is a drop
in style affair that will be jammed packed with information and
activities. We are still encouraging folks to take photos and be part
of the #MyHammond Photo Project, and the sooner you get your
photos posted the better! We will be presenting some of these
images as part of the Open House.
There’s going to be a number of displays in the Hammond
Community Centre, from the photos you’ve taken as part of the
#MyHammond photo project to maps and background information
that we will be seeking your input on. We are also very excited to
debut a video project featuring some of the folks that grew up in
Hammond and their memories of life in their youth.
We are hoping that you take time from your busy schedule to be
part of this rst Community Open House so you can get connected
with this project. Look for ads in the local papers and be part of
shaping your community for future generations!
At the beginning of the month we unveiled the 2013 Citizens
Report as part of the Maple Ridge booth at the Home Show. This
48 page magazine is packed with information that you might
nd interesting. The expanded nancial section has charts and
information on the District population growth over the last century,
key data on property values and taxation and the full audited
nancial statements for the District.
The publication also highlights the work done in 2013 in each
division, has great information on the work of the RCMP and
Fire Department in our community and some special features
including a feature article on one of our longest serving community
volunteers, Bill Archibald.
There’s a year in review in photos, featuring some of the amazing
images from the local newspapers and a great photo essay called
‘Your Maple Ridge: 24 Hours” that shows that our community never
sleeps. You can pick up a copy at the Hall or go online and view
the 2013 Citizens Report using an online tool called ‘FlippingBook.’
This publication is a great way to get to know your community
better and celebrate our accomplishments in 2013. The online
version of the Citizens Report can be found at mapleridge.ca
under the ‘Your Government’ tab. Let us know what you think.
