Workshop at a Glance Subscribe to the ‘Workshop at a Glance’ eNewsletter that provides a summary of issues discussed at Council Workshop meetings. Council Meeting Videos If you are unable to attend a Council Meeting, Public Hearing, Workshop, or Committee of the Whole meeting you can now watch these meetings on your computer 24/7. The entire unedited meetings are posted two to three days after the meeting. The video is indexed to the agenda package so that you can watch them in their entirety or click through by agenda item. In addition, Council Meetings, Workshops, and Committee of the Whole are now broadcast on the internet via live streaming using the same technology used for our live budget Q&A sessions. MID-MONTH MARCH 2016 ENGAGED: Hammond Area Plan Open House Getting Community Feedback on the Concept Plan Contact us at enquiries@mapleridge.ca An open house on the Hammond Preliminary Concept Plan is scheduled for Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Hammond Elementary School, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. We are seeking public input on the Concept Plan and the open house is an opportunity to ask questions and provide your comments. For those who cannot make it to the open house event, we will be posting an online questionnaire after the event for approximately two weeks. Links to the background materials can be found on the City website at www.mapleridge.ca/794/ MyHammond-Hammond-Area-Plan- Process. The website has details of the Hammond Preliminary Concept Plan - Overview of main sections forming a comprehensive outline for the Hammond Area Plan. Preliminary Concept Plan Land Use Maps - support the comprehensive outline above. In addition there are three technical studies that support the concept plan. They include the; Hammond Historic Character Area - identifi es and describes the highest concentration of heritage features within the Hammond Area boundaries. Residential Density Bonus/Transfer Program Assessment for Hammond Area Plan - looks at market viability for a density bonus/transfer program as well as feasibility of density increase and development form. Commercial Demand and Capacity Analysis for Hammond Area Plan - looks at commercial demand and capacity of Hammond’s historic commercial area over the next 30 years to 2045. Once the public has provided feedback on the Concept Plan it will come back before Council for the fi nal processes to develop and pass the fi nal plan. Volunteer to Add Your Voice to a City Advisory Committee The City of Maple Ridge is looking for citizens who are interested in sharing their knowledge, experience, expertise and unique perspectives on one of the Advisory Committees of the City. Committee appointments are for a two year term and you will invest between three and six hours of your time a month for meetings and other activities. The meetings are held at City Hall on weekday evenings and there are sometimes special tours and events based on the committee work. Currently there are openings on the Active Transportation Advisory Committee, Community Heritage Commission, Environmental Advisory Committee, Municipal Advisory Committee on Accessibility Issues, Public Art Steering Committee and the Social Policy Advisory Committee. You can learn more about these committees and access and complete the online application at mapleridge.ca/123. Provide information on why you wish to serve and your relevant experience and background to apply for these important committee positions. ENGAGED: Hot Topics Link Launched The Stuff You Need to Know About In Just One Click! Last week we did the soft launch of our ‘Hot Topics’ link off the home page of the City website at mapleridge.ca. Click on the fl aming photo on the right and you are taken to an ever-changing menu of items that will allow you to fi nd important information that is before Council, public engagement work that’s underway and topics that are trending on the community radar. It’s that simple. Take a look and let us know what you think by email at enquiries@mapleridge.ca. Spring is full of activity at Ridge Meadows Recycling! In addition to their Easter weekend holiday hours the Spring Brush Chipping Program is coming fast. Easter Weekend – Blue Box Pickup Schedule & Depot Closure: Reminder of the Easter Weekend Holiday Schedule - there will be NO CURBSIDE RECYCLING PICKUP on either Good Friday (March 25) or Easter Monday (March 28). The Maple Ridge Recycling Depot will be CLOSED on Good Friday, March 25, but OPEN on Easter Monday, March 28. With Easter coming early this year, the set-out dates for the City of Maple Ridge’s Spring Brush Chipping Program are earlier, too. Set-out deadlines are Tuesday, March 29 for residents who live WEST of 224 Street and Monday, April 11 for residents living EAST of 224 Street. No pre-registration necessary, simply place branches at your curbside by set-out deadlines for pickup and chipping.
