INFORMED: Let’s Talk Soil
Open House and Online Survey on Soil
The City of Maple Ridge has recently initiated a review of the
Maple Ridge Soil Deposit Regulation Bylaw No. 5763-1999.
Public consultation is a pivotal component of this review
process and the City is looking to speak with citizens, business
owners and other stakeholders on the current bylaw.
A public open house will be held on Thursday, September 29,
2016 from 4:30 – 8:30 pm (drop in anytime) in the Council
Chambers foyer. You can access the open house through the
doorway facing east towards the RCMP Headquarters. All
citizens are invited and encouraged to attend and learn more
about the current bylaw, address concerns that have been
raised to date and provide comments on how to improve the
bylaw.
In addition to the open house, a questionnaire for public
feedback will be made available on the Maple Ridge website
www.mapleridge.ca/152 and a paper copy is available at the
Planning Department front counter at City Hall. The feedback
that is received will assist staff in preparing a draft bylaw for
Council’s consideration.
The draft bylaw will be presented in early 2017 to the
community for further discussion and recommendations as a
continuation of the City’s public consultation process.

ENGAGED: #MRHeritage Inventory Project
Help Update the Heritage Resources of Maple Ridge
In 1998 Maple Ridge completed the fi rst Heritage Inventory
project which culminated in a list of 100 sites which have been
researched, photographed and described as special historic
places within the community.
The Community Heritage Commission (CHC) would like input
from the community on what sites to include based on
their cultural, social, scientifi c and spiritual heritage. Some
examples are buildings, landscapes, vistas, monuments,
artifacts, gathering spaces, etc.
On Monday, October 3, 2016 from 4:30 to 8:30 pm the CHC
will be hosting an open house at the Ridge Meadows Seniors
Activity Centre. This will be your opportunity to meet the team
working on updating the Heritage Inventory, share your ideas
for sites you would like to nominate and ask any questions
regarding the Heritage Inventory project. You are encouraged
to bring your old photos, newspaper clippings and any other
general information on sites you feel have heritage value.
You can also make an online nomination following the ‘Hot
Topics’ link on the City website at mapleridge.ca. For more
information on the #MRHeritage Inventory Project please
contact Lisa Zosiak, Planner at 604-467-7383 or via email at
lzosiak@mapleridge.ca.
