Lino Siracusa, Manager of Economic Development introduced Chrislana Gregory, a
member of the Tourism Task Force, to Council. Ms. Gregory provided Council with an
overview of the strategy process. Dan Wilson, Planning and Engagement, Whistler
Centre for Sustainability provided Council with a presentation that included:
Benefits of Tourism
Process, Engagement and Strategy Framework
2020 Vision
Focus Areas, reviewed the strategic directions and planned actions for:
Authentic Collaboration and Capacity
On Target Marketing and Communications
Exceptional Experiences and Infrastructure
Implementation Phases
Governance
Sample Budgets & Proposed Budget
Next Steps
Council approved the draft Tourism Strategy for stakeholder and public consultation and
requested that the final Tourism Strategy be provided for Council consideration upon
completion of the public consultation.

Branding Implementation Plan
Lino Siracusa, Manager of Economic Development made a presentation to Council
which included:
Definition of Brand? What is it?
How a brand is important to cities.
How a brand is integrated with all strategic business activities.
Phases of the Implementation Plan -
Phase 1 (2017) –Brand Refresh Development
Phase 2 (2018) – Launch and Roll-out
Phase 3 (2019+) – Imbed and Monitor
Council defeated the motion to endorse the Branding Implementation Plan
High Performance Standards for Civic
Buildings
Laura Benson, Manager of Sustainability & Corporate Planning made a presentation to
Council that included an overview and discussion on the buildings contemplated for the
future and the options for incorporating green building standards.
Maya Chorobik, Research Technician made a presentation to Council that included the
following:

Standards and Certifications
Context and Trends – Provincial, Federal and Regional
Policy Options

Proposed Regulatory Revisions
