Bylaw Update
Trevor Thompson, Manager of Financial Planning gave a presentation to Council that
included information on the description, context, uses and calculations of DCCs, the
DCC Bylaw process and the proposed DCC Bylaw (including structure changes, rate
changes and comparisons).
Cultural Plan Update
Patricia Huntsman, Consultant made a presentation to Council that provided a summary
of engagement and survey findings from Maple Ridge’s Ten Year Cultural Plan which
included:
Definition of Cultural Resources and Assets
Importance of participation from arts and cultural organizations
Role and priorities of the City
Outline of steps followed in Phases 1 and 2
Next steps as part of Phase 3
Events and activities within the City
Requests for future events and activities
Survey findings

Follow-Up Report to the Ridge Meadows
Minor Hockey Presentation
Kelly Swift, General Manager: Parks, Recreation & Culture introduced this item and
provided background information on the Follow -Up Report to the Ridge Meadows
Minor Hockey Presentation.
Council directed staff to increase funding for subsidized arena access by $100,000 in
2017 and by $200,000 in subsequent years, by identifying a funding source for 2017
and amending the 2018-2022 Business Plan accordingly.
Ridge Meadows Minor Lacrosse Needs Follow
Up
Kelly Swift, General Manager: Parks, Recreation & Culture introduced and provided
background information on this item.
Council directed staff to prepare a report citing potential locations for a lacrosse box
with lighting.
Outdoor Pool Information Report
Wendy McCormick, Director of Recreation & Community Services made a presentation
to Council that provided examples of outdoor pools in Maple Ridge, other communities
in the Lower Mainland and pools situated in other cities including Calgary, Lethbridge
and a championship pool located in Windsor, Ontario.
A discussion took place on the potential costs and anticipated timeline of getting a pre
-fabricated pool.
Council directed staff not to pursue an outdoor pool.
