The Minutes of the Municipal Council Workshop held on January 23, 2012 at 9:00
a.m. in the Blaney Room of the Municipal Hall, 11995 Haney Place, Maple Ridge,
British Columbia for the purpose of transacting regular Municipal business.

Ms. Taylor gave a PowerPoint presentation providing information on BC
Hydro’s Smart Meter Program. She provided information on the existing
power distribution grid in British Columbia, outlined the need to modernize
that grid and advised on the role smart meters will play. She explained the
function of smart meters and highlighted the advantages the meters will offer.
Note: Councillor Dueck left the meeting at 10:03 a.m.
Ms. Taylor addressed concerns put forward by Council. She advised that all
BC Hydro research can be found on the Hydro website and spoke to the
process residents who do not wish to have a smart meter installed can follow.
Note: Councillor Dueck returned to the meeting at 10:40 a.m.
Note: The meeting was recessed at 10:50 a.m. and reconvened at 11:00 a.m.

Discussion of Item 1201 on the January 24, 2012 Council Agenda
The Director of Planning reviewed the report.
Note: item 4.2 was dealt with prior to Item 3.1

Staff report dated January 23, 2012 recommending that the Council Matrix
attached as Appendix I be adopted.
The Chief Administrative Officer reviewed the report. The Manager of
Legislative Services reviewed the attached matrix and defined its setup.
There was general discussion around items on the matrix and the timing of
the presentation of these items.
